Just bought Call of Juarez for PC.....

So, I reverted back to my PC gaming roots and have started a new game of Dead Space on hard difficult, am continuing to play through Gladiator: Sword of Vengeance, and Cryostasis but today as I lounge around my desk at work I came across "Call of Juarez" on the PC. I never had a Western genre game so I jumped at the chance to buy it for $9 dollars on Amazonl.com.

So the question is.....Have you ever played it and what do you think of it? Back in the day I played GUN on PS2 and I thought it was pretty good. I hope this one is just as good if not better.

I've played through Gun and liked it a lot.

I've gotten about 10% of the way through Call of Juarez and the main difference is the controls. I recall liking Gun's slow mo better and the horseback stuff was awesome. Call is all 1st person and I found some of the early missions difficult - they would have been a lot more enjoyable/easier to do in 3rd.

The story is way different and it's pretty good so far. You play as two different characters as well.

I think you'll be happy, especially for that price.

I see you didn't check out http://www.direct2drive.com/d2dturns5 I was telling you about earlier, they have CoJ for $5.00 right now too!!!

I hear this is a good game as well and the demo was good!

EDIT: I also seen Spiderman: Web of Shadows on amazon used for 2.99 with 3.99 shipping! Dunno if the game is any good though?!?

OK, so I got it yesterday and just in time to because I just finished Cryostasis. The first think I thought when I started playing the game was "REDNECK RAMPAGE". I guess it was just the setting and the accents but I had to laugh for a moment when that one guy said "Get of my Property!". Kind of reminded me of Kduster Fuster.

Anyway, the game is a solid FPS. I think the slow motion mode is creative but falls short because you have to turn to the side to work in some shots but its better then nothing. The quick draw duels are intense and very difficult. I still haven't got the hang of them yet. The enemy always seemed to start shooting WAY before I do and I just have to stand there like a card board cut out until my cross hairs goes over his body.

The game is not really as detailed as Cryostasis and Dead Space. I guess they had bigger budgets because Call of Juarez looks almost bare bones in the graphics department and it only came out in 2007.

Snume was right though. The game is good. Especially for the price I payed for it.

I have it on the 360 and I hate it. I just don't think it is good or plays well in any particular way, nor do I care for the story or characters. I played a good bit into it, but nah I just hated it. I'm still looking for that good western game. I like gun smoke and sunset riders, but that's about it. I have red dead revolver (yuck), and Gun was ok, but I'm always disappointed in western games it seems.

^ OMG, Red Dead Revolver was horrible. I remember renting it and while it looked good, the game mechanics were not there at all. You had to shoot a guy 20 times before they died and every bad guy looked. I don't even remember the storyline of it.

....I have been playing a lot of Call of Juarez. I'm up to episode ten so most likely I'm nearing the end of the game. The storyline was done very well. They weren't reinventing the wheel in the gameplay department other then the horse chases. All in all though its done as well as can be. I'm stuck right now at the part with the church and the three tomes. Can't fnd a way to the rock bridge.

PS2 back in the day compared to Dreamcast is shitty. PS2 now is OK but is mostly good for retro game compilations. ;)

I like em' all in one way or another, just don't think PS2 is retro, but you know that. :)

Just tested out the Call of Juarez multiplayer mode. It's pretty cool. The only problem I have with it is that I keep falling through the dam floor and then get booted for "terrain hacking" or something.

I'm all patched up too so maybe its just a lingering glitch.
