Star Wars Arcade

Does anyone know if any of these are still at their local arcades? Or in existence period? I know that arcades themselves are a rarity these days but I was just curious.

Which really sucks because back in the day the Putt Putt Golf (now Adventure Landing) in Dallas, TX actually had this game. If only I could have avoided it in my childhood!

Weird that something based on such a big franchise sold so little here.

Trilogy Arcade is far more common (and way better IMO), you can find those in most arcades. (at least around here)

I played SWA at Circus Circus in Las Vegas. It was really great, so I made sure that was one of the first things I got for the 32X. You really need two players, one to pilot and the other for gunner. The actual arcade was really cool, having seats for both players.

I love the awesome music and the silky smooth framerate on the real deal. I guess some day it'll be perfected in MAME (it's not TERRIBLE right now mind you just has a ways to go) so maybe I can just build a fake cabinet to go with it.

Playing the 32X version with two players is pretty neat, though, as long as you stay away from the special 32X mode.

I played one over in either Walt Disney World or 2003 Walt Disney Land at either Tommorowland or Star Tours. I know it's in one of those two places, edging more towards Tommorowland in WDW, you should check online and see if it's still there.

Interesting that they are so rare, I always hear people talking about playing them. Was the cockpit pretty cool?

The only one I saw at Disney land this year was Trilogy arcade, the common one. (also at Santa Cruze Beach Boardwalk, along with the vector graphics Atari Star Wars arcade machine -stand up version) I've never seen Star Wars

I thought it was rad, the sound system was great and the big screen helped the experience tremendously. I look forward to perfect emulation of the game so I can try to recreate the setup with some flight sticks. :)

Yes, and it is actually playable to some degree but music is missing and controls seem wonky among other things.

From that video it seems like the Star Wars Arcade that came out later with inferior graphics (obviously) and a cooler cockpit. Although to be fair most games "blow up the death star" mission look the same.

From reading that, I think the "less than 12" was a reference to the DLX cabinet, which I suppose was being featured in the video. The one I played was not the DLX, it was the standard one shown in the flyer. Hopefully there's still a few of those around.

I have the Sega Trilogy one near me at the local Dave and Busters (Chucky Cheese for adults)
