I've seen this before. I don't believe it. They aren't going to call it the Dreamcast 2 nor is it going to have a blue ray player in it.
They would be fools to call it the Dreamcast 2.

Unless Sega's trying to do what Nintendo is with the Wii IDK what to thin about this. But I am curious about the Sonic 2D game.

Agreed. There is enough tech out there that is totally understood from off-the-shelf parts to be a good game console. I wouldn't want to see a competitor with current consoles (meaning PS3 and 360) because of all the cool stuff there are lots of problems with them.Quote:

Yeah, I think the reasons MS went away from the off the shelf formula with the 360 was to limit piracy and get the best performance at good cost (compared to contemporary X86 processors and PC video cards). Though if it would have meant reliability on par with the original Xbox, it would certainly be worth taking a hit on performance. (and a possible risk of piracy, though I'm really not sure how much that was affected in any case)
Not to mention full (or nearly so) hardware backwards compatibility would have been fairly practical then, although maybe they actually didn't want that... MS probably cut the Xbox's life shorter than it could have been too. Oh well.
