I played it on the Sega Channel and today i wanted to download the rom, but its nowhere to be found. Then i notice that there is only an SNES version of it out.
Was it a Sega Channel exclusive?

No idea, but I remember this being previewed back in the day. I would have thought that outside the US it would have had a release, but I don't seem to remember it.
I don't believe it was ever released in cart form.
Have no fear though, drx has the genesis beta cart and will hopefully be dumping it soon. :D
So NO ONE was able to capture these games back in the day? I mean, people were able to copy DC games when the DC was still current, why couldn't anyone hack the Sega Channel and dump the ROMs to their computer? Ugh, it makes me so mad, some of the best games were Sega Channel exclusives. On paper it seems easy too: the games are obviously streamed into the RAM of the Sega Channel adapter...why not just redirect that stream to a computer and viola!
It pisses me off too and in the long run makes rom collecting a nightmare.
Because no one dumped sega channel or anything on it we don't have:
US Mega Man
Garfield the lost levels
US Addams family values
A crap load of ocean games
US golden axe 3 *Sega still has it though, bastards*
Numerous "Test Drives"
Those cool advertisement screens
All that fricken sweet music
and finally.......
The bulky Sega channel adapter so somebody could dissect it and maybe use it for something!!!!!!
It does sound so simple but I guess everybody thought Sega channel was the new coke and it would be around forever.
Is the version of Golden Axe III on the SEGA Genesis Collection and Virtual Console just the Japanese one or is it something different? As far as I can see the (J) version is 100% in English already so I'm wondering if there are known differences between the SEGA Channel version and what was released in Japan.
Should be the same since the game is totally in English.
Ah, thanks, I was comparing videos and just came back to edit that into my post. :)
I guess my next question would be is there actually anything cited as different between the SEGA Channel version and the Japanese release? Not saying there wouldn't be anything changed but it seems like if we already have a full English version of the game then it's less of a travesty compared to things like Lost Levels.
What I really don't understand is why we haven't seen any former Sega Channel releases on the Wii VC. Of all of the shit I would never buy on the VC, some Sega Channel exclusives would actually be worth it for once. Then, a hacker could properly dump them from there and we would finally have the ROMs we all know and love from the versions in other regions.
I didn't even know that The Flintstones Movie game actually received a Sega Channel release. I thought it was a totally unreleased game for the Mega Drive/Genesis. Europe never got it in any shape or form at least.
No wonder why the prototype is in fully completed form then, if it was a released game after all, although there's still all those other Ocean prototype games which are completed but absent of physical copies: Jelly Boy, Waterworld, Mr. Nutz 2, Putty Squad and Lobo.
What other Ocean games? Maybe any of the aforementioned like Mr. Nutz 2 and Putty Squad?
yea, thats what I meant. There is just too many games on sega channel that just went up in smoke.
I just wish that before I die I could see the games that were most elusive to the rest of the world.
I wouldn't doubt it, there is no list stated what appeared on sega channel and what didn't, the only way we would "know" is a claim by another forum member and even then, that would be disputable.
Besides, sega had a "TEST DRIVE" channel in which you could play betas for a certain amount of time. Certainly not a far fetched statement. ;)
What happened to that game? Drx has the beta Rom and wanted to release it in 2010 if there would be people who are willing to donate a certain amount.
Same goes with Putty Squad.
I once asked him how much was already donated and he told me it was nothing.
Here is the link: http://forums.hidden-palace.org/viewtopic.php?p=8748 (Scroll down a bit).
When I asked him again last here he didn't answer me at all.
So what happended to these games? Aren't there any people interested but me? Or are there any reasons to not release the roms?
