It's more a 'rip off' (if you could call it that, it's the same developer.) of Final Fantasy IV; Only now with the FFX battle system 'Side Bar' showing the combat character order. (In the japanese version at least.)
It's more in line with the anime "Steamboy" than "Skies of Arcadia" IMO, that may be because it's set on Earth.
Even so, aside from Airship battles & discoveries, the game looks more 'lived in' than SoA.
Hard to describe unless you played them. This game is not the Skies clone everyone expected, but a nice addition to the list of very few Steampunk RPGs that attempt to be 'vibrant and colorful' and not the bleak & depressing emo saves the world from space rock throwing mad-man part XXVIII standard, that the genre's been buried under.
