could be, not too sure since I don't know too well how SMS and GG works on the software side...
So that is just a controller port I assume.
I can't imagine having 'fun' with a controller in one guys hands, and the physical unit with the screen on it in the other.
Recipe for backseat fisticuffs.

I really doubt this would work at all. This just seems like a link cable with a DB-9 on the opposite side. The only use I would think of for it is to be used with PC emulators with the serial port. Otherwise it's as useful as a Gameboy link cable with an NES port attached to it.
But, if anyone does buy it, could you check the contacts with a continuity tester? :)
I'm pretty sure Iron Lizard is right, it is for the second player in Master System games played through the Master Gear converter. I've got one in a drawer at home, but I've never used it. When I get back I'll see if I can find the cable and try it out.
