GBA SP: Best looking handheld EVER invented.
Retrogen Portable: Seriously. How awesome is the Retrogen Portable? :D
Gamecube: Because it was $15 at Goodwill.
Atari 2600: Because it was $10 (with 45+ games) at a garage sale.
SNS: I still want to get one.
NES: Along with the SNS and Sega CD, one of my next purchases for sure.
Master System: I want it for Phantasy Star I (That's really all I can think of, maybe I should just get a PBC).
Game Gear: I have one Sealed, haven't ever played it. (Don't have any games :()
Turbografx 16/Turboduo: I still want one.
Sega 32X: Why don't I have one of these yet?
Sega CD: Seriously, I need to get me one of these.
PSP: Don't have one. I want it for all the awesome PS1-like titles they have (and the cases look really awesome too).
DS: Don't have one. I want it for all the awesome 2D titles out there (and the cases look awesome too).
Wii: I want it for all the awesome 2D titles as well, CONTRA REBIRTH!
Xbox: Shenmue II
Xbox 360: Probably never going to buy one. :(
PS2: Onimusha and a thousand more awesome titles.

Neo Geo Aes/CD: I can dream, right?

Let's go through this in the chronological order in which I bought them...

• Mega Drive: Then: Because a friend had one and it was awesome. Now: Because it reminds me why I loved games in the first place.
• PlayStation: Tekken. And everything else. It was clear pretty early on that the PS was going to be the winner of its generation. A good choice it was too.
• PlayStation 2: I was a loyal Sony fan at the time, so it never even occurred to me that I could get anything else.
• Dreamcast: Soul Calibur. Also, a friend of mine had one, it was pretty cheap to get and it's just one of the coolest consoles ever. I'm still discovering how awesome some of its games are.
• Xbox 360: I won one in a bloody contest! Dunno if I would've gotten one otherwise, but you can't look a gift horse in the mouth. In the end, it's been a more enjoyable console for me than the PS3.
• GP2X: It's a handheld specifically made for homebrew! Well, that sounds cooler than it actually is, but I've had some fun with it. I just never have the urge to bring a handheld with me anywhere. And the battery life is horrible.
• PlayStation 3: Metal Gear Solid 4 and Blu-ray. Neither were really convincing reasons to fork out 400 euros, and it's been one of the most difficult purchases I've ever made. I'm not one to regret my purchases, but I really should've waited at least one more year.

SFC/SNES - not so great games, but still wanted to have it

NES - My parents surprised us with it one Christmas so I had no control over getting one or not...."Santa" brought it.

Genesis - I wanted it because it blew my mind when I played Alter Beast for the first time at my cousins house. Ironically Alter Beast was one of the last games I collected.

Dreamcast - I was impressed with the graphics and I was a fan of Sega so I got it on launch date. Best system ever.

PS2 - I waited until I got a refurbished one for $150 dollars + 1 Game. It broke a year or so later. After which my friends got me a PS2-slim for christmas to replace it.

NES- I received a $100 from my Grandfather My mother wisely talked me out of buying Captain Power when realized what it really was. I was 8

Gameboy-I again received a $100 check from my Grandfather. It was a portable gaming system. I had never seen anything that cool. I could play games at school.

Genesis-My brother wisely talked me out of a TurboGrafx16, Golden Axe sealed the deal. Both of us skipped lunch at school everyday, saved Bday money, sold Nes games, and eventually we got it.

Atari 65XE- Atari owned Federated had a going out of business sale. My mom came with it and box of games for peanuts. They were not as pretty as the even the NES but it was free and I was like 10. Good times.

SEGA CD- My grandmother was supposed to get my mom a new hard drive for her work. We were actually quite poor.Instead while Christmas shopping we swindled her into buy us a Sega Cd on the premise we would delete all of our games( wing commander, A10, Space Quest 4, Mean Streets) on the then rather large 80 meg hard drive. She was furious.

GameGear-I thin my mom bought out of spite. With it we could ignore my father on 3 week car trip after their divorce. Didn't work. It ate up batteries to fast. I sold to get money for the Jackson JDR-94 I still play today.

Snes- My friends all took up drugs. I got a SNES for $20 in 94. It was on its way out but finally I could play Zelda and Mario World.

32x- Looking back I don't know but Virtua Racing was still a big deal.

Saturn-I had a job and so did my brother. Much easier to obtain. Lots of fun with Dragon Force, Guardian Heroes Street Fighter Alpha, Panzer Dragoon 1, II, and saga, Magic Knight, Baku Baku. I wish I hadn't let him walk off with all of that.

Anything else has been found in a thrift store.

Chronological Order:

• SNES - Donkey Kong Country, which as of these days I hate.
  
• N64 - My Dad got it in a trade and I was still a Nintendo fanboy at the age of 5 or 6 or whatever I was.
  
• Genesis - Found it for $5 with a 32X, NBA Jam, and three controllers (arcade stick, six button, three button). I didn't real care for it at the time, but couldn't turn down the nice price. Now I think it's a better system than the SNES.
  
• GBC - Pokemon
  
• NES - Yet again, another $5 find and I was still a Nintendo fanboy. I actually got one helluva a deal on this one. Two controllers, Light gun, both Zelda's, Duck Hunt/Mario Bros., and Mario 3 as well as some other nice games.
  
• GBA - Liked my GBC and my Mom got it for me for Xmas.
  
• PS1 - Crash Bandicoot, FF7, turned me into a Sony fanboy.
  
• Xbox - Had it, but it begin having DVD drive problems at around 4 years old. Sold it before it broke down. I enjoyed the Halo's Gun Valkyrie, JSRF and Panzer Dragoon Orta though.
  
• PS2 - Saved up my money around the age of 10 for this contraption, and at this point I had converted to Sony fanboy. Good system despite reliability issues that some had. Final Fantasy X.
  
• PSP - This system ended my fanboy stage. I was so excited and I got it launch day (March 23rd 2005, yes I remember this mistake), and then there were no good games for a long time. Traded it back in and was introduced to!
  
• Dreamcast! - Best system of all time book, it's what made me think SEGA had made the best 128 bit system, the best 16 bit system, and if you were willing to import I consider the Saturn the best as well (2D aged better than 3D of the same generation in my opinion). I do still have a preference for NES over SMS, but, Phantasy Star is undeniably the best RPG of that generation so SMS does have it's strengths in my book.
  
• DS - Some really good games (Fire emblem, Hotel Dusk, Sonic Rush etc.)
  
• Saturn - Got this on my trip to Japan in Super Potato. Guardian Heroes!!!
  
• Wii - Got this for Christmas it's what my mom could afford and plus it looked like it was gonna be a good system. Some people have been unhappy with theirs but it's my 2nd favorite system this generation.
  
• Xbox 360 - Had it, sold it. In my book the worst system this generation. Few worthwhile exclusives, I boycott downloadable content and games so that limits much of it's appeal. Broke down twice in a period of 4 months. Also unacceptable in my book.
  
• PS3 - Got my 360 back from MS after they fixed the DVD drive and immediately put it on Craigslist to trade for a PS3. I got the 80 GB that can play PS2 games : D. None the less, I consider Valkyria Chronicles the best game that I have played this generation. That alongside Uncharted, inFamous make this my favorite system this generation.

-Famicom: because it was better than the atari 2600
-NES: Because its almost impossible to get original famicom carts here with save feartures
-GB: So tiny, and is better than a game & watch!
-Master System: i never wanted one, but my mother gave me one as a birthday present.
-Megadrive: Altered Beast, Golden Axe, Shinobi 2, Outrun
-SNES: its the old Famicom!! but with 16bits! and it has Street Fighter 2
-PC Engine/SCRom 2: collector reasons
-NeoGeo: Fatal Fury, and the guy from the store that i used to buy my games back then convinced me "you need to have one these".
-Atari Jaguar: i still dont know why i bought it

Jaguar - for Tempest 2000 (Sweet game)

Dreamcast - Cause afrter reading all about it and playing Sonic Advance knew it was the system for me.
PS2 - Because i knew the next final fantasy and Metal Gear would be released on it...
Game Cube - For Star Wars Rouge leader (as well as nintendo first party)
Xbox - for Halo
Xbox 360 - Cause i wanted to have Perfect Dark Zero and for the Next Halo (3)
Wii - Zelda and motion controls
PS3 - Cause i knew the next Metal Gear would be released on it..

NES- It was already there when I was born.
Genesis- My sister got it for herself and it eventually became mine.
Playstation- Same as the Genesis.
GB Color- I was pressured by classmates to get one.
X-box- I wanted to be ahead of the game in terms of power in a console.
Gameboy Advance- Pressured by classmates.
Game Gear- Because Sega does what nintendon't
Sega Dreamcast- Morbid curiosity, wan't disapointed by any means. In fact is still my most played console.
NES Toploader- Needed a NES that worked $30 and came with Castlevania 2 and 3.
Sega Genesis Nomad- Too awesome to pass up.
Sega CD- $5 at a fleamarket, impulse buy.
Neo Geo Pocket Color- Wanted something for long trips and 40 hrs on 2 AA was good for me.
Nintendo 64- Good price at fleamarket $20 for 3 game and 2 working controller.
Atari 2600 Jr.- $30 with 10 games and controllers
Gameboy Pocket- I really don't know why, collection reasons really.
Master System- It was free.
32X- Wanted to create the legendary "SUPER BATTLESHIP FORMATION"
Sega Saturn- Saw a bunch of games I liked for it. So I got it.
Colecovision- Old+fun. It was a good console.
3DO Fz-1- $10 at a fleamarket.
Wonderswan Crystal- Honestly it was awesome and it was my first import console.
PC-Engine Duo- Awesome console to the max. Also NEEDED to play Dracula X.
PC-FX- A wierd console that deserved to be collected.
GP-32FLU- Strange device, I liked Astonisha Story R on the thing.
Tiger Game.com- Odd, strange whatever you call it, it was an interesting console.
Atari 5200- Wanted to play the best version of Mountain King.

Gamecube- Traded for games I really didnt like.

Intellivision II- $10 at a fleamarket. Good price and it had the voice synth with it.
TIger Game.com Light- $12 on ebay good price and I wanted to play RE2 before I went to sleep.

SNES- favorite system. my big brother got it for xmas when I was 1. It's basically my other sibling.

PSX- Got it for xmas from parents in '99

NES- got it in '03 for the Mega Man games

GB- got it for free from cousin

Genesis- Bought it this past August. Couldn't stand not having one any more. Too many good games. It now sits next to my SNES in perfect harmony.

I'm not 100% sure, but this is mostly chronological order

Colecovision- It had the best version of Donkey Kong, and it played 2600 games!
NES - I broke the colecovision, and the NES had a monopoly by then
SNES - Super Mario World!!!!!
Gameboy - I found one with lines on the screen cheap
Master System 2 - I can finally play Shinobi after all these years (1993)
Genesis 2 - lower price and it came with Sonic 2 now!
32x - Doom and Virtua Racing (this was NEW, mind you)
Sega CD - system was cheap, local stores selling cheap great games
PSX - I liked the Saturn better, but my bud already had one. This way we had both!
Saturn - VF2/Daytona/Virtua Cop bundle made me buy it
N64 - Starfox 64
Nomad - $50 on clearance!
Dreamcast - I hated most PSX stuff, the Saturn had died and I was really ready for Sega to kick some ass again
PS2 - DC dead...what else was I gonna play?
Gamecube - Rogue Leader was freaking awesome
Xbox - price drop and JSRF/GT2002 bundle did it for me
TurboDuo - someone told me TZD.com still had new units, and I wanted to play Dracula X
Neo Geo home system - I always wanted one, and I discovered they were cheap by this point (2001?)
Turbo Express : Flash cart became available, and I found a defective new one cheap and fixed it
Wii - Okay, I'm a Nintendo whore
Xbox 360 - Price drop, XBLA
Neo Geo consolized MVS - replaced home system since MVS carts are cheaper and I only had a couple of AES games anyway

Game Boy Pocket: My grandmother thought this would be a good toy to keep me occupied due to the rising amount of attention my baby brother needed. Boy, was she right.
Nintendo 64: My parents got me this. It had never even occurred to me to get a home console, but I was absolutely thrilled to see it came with Pokemon Stadium (I played Pokemon on the Game Boy)

Game Gear: I was in Toys-R-Us and all of a sudden I saw it and FREAKED OUT. I had played GG on emulators, and thought it was discontinued (it was; this was the Majesco re-release) so seeing it in a store gave me a strange sense of desperation. I begged my parents to let me get it, and obviously it succeeded.
Game Boy Advance: Well, I loved the Game Boy line. And then my friend, whose mom worked at the local K-mart, brought one home before it was released. It blew my mind that I could play SNES quality games on there (especially so because I was looking at Mario All-Stars Mario 2 which I had played on PC emulators) and I knew I had to have it.
Gamecube: I asked for it for my birthday partially because I loved the N64 and partially because it had freaking Sonic Adventure 2 on it and I loved Sonic more than anything at the time.
Nintendo DS: As the GBA started fading, it seemed logical that I upgraded to the next Nintendo handheld. Also, I really wanted to play the GBA with the backlight since I missed the GBA SP.
SNES: After pirating SNES games on the computer via emulators for years, I felt it was time to go back and actually get some real hardware, thus fulfilling a goal I'd had in mind since I was in second grade and wrote a paper about how I wanted to buy a Super Nintendo.
Wii: More Nintendo loyalty.
GP2X: Holy crap! A handheld with emulators!? I'VE GOT TO HAVE IT! *$200 vanishes from wallet*
Genesis: First off, I loved Sonic. Secondly, it was offered to me for free. How could I turn it down!?
NES: After I got the Genesis I started wanting to get consoles of everything I had emulated in the past, since emulation was the only way I had played pretty much all my classic games. This NES was the first of many things to enter my house very quickly. I bought it off a guy in the marching band. I vividly remember that on the day he delivered it he was more than 5 hours late and I had a headache... until I hooked it up and started playing...
TurboGrafx-16: I knew they were worth money, and I knew that last time I checked there weren't any decent emulators but I figured it had some good titles. So when I saw one at a garage sale for $10, I snatched it up quick.
Xbox 360: I finally concluded the Wii just wasn't cutting it as a "next gen" console.
Atari 7800: I felt like going really old-school, and my uncle mentioned he had one in his attic, so I coaxed him into giving me it.
Playstation: One thing I noted was that I had always been disliking of Sony but really had no reason, so I decided to go out and buy a PS1 and no longer miss out on some great titles.
Playstation Portable: I had actually wanted one of these when they came out because they played MP3s, but I already had a DS and not much money. But then a good deal came around and I knew it was time to dive in.
Sega Saturn: For many years I had heard things about the Saturn, but information regarding it has always been pretty sparse. It was un-emulatable on my computer, too. Therefore it was like an enigma to me that I really, really wanted to learn about. Then, finally, the right deal came along and I happily entered Saturnland.

Ugh, another list.

SNES - first console. Dad obtained it, but didn't really want it. Still have some fairly vivid memories of having fun playing Street Fighter 2 & the Super Scope games in the first week it arrived :)
Mega Drive / CD - my dad actually won these about 6 months after the Snes, in one of those silly phone-in competitions - you might remember them from such places as ads in magazines. They came with 20 games. It was like Christmas early!
Game Gear - a Christmas present. Never had many games for this (though now I have 100-odd :/) - bought ex-rental copies with "pocket money" from Blockbuster Video. Was good to kill the odd couple of hours here & there.
Master System 2 - the "gaming breadbin". Another present, probably cos I liked games so much, and people liked to feed my addiction :/ Aside from the Sonic games (yes, even 2) I never played this as much as my other consoles back in the day. It's still good though.
N64 - I actually paid for some of this myself by saving, wanted something new and it looked more fun than the Ps1 that some of my friends (brothers :roll:) had. Came with Mario 64 - I played it until I got all 120 Stars, before buying any other games for it.
Gamecube - Mario Kart pack in, and another (much later) Christmas gift from my parents. It all seemed so swish after the N64! Later sold this to fund stupid crap while at uni (ftr Cash Converters are bastards) but rebought one for a paltry £10 this year for Smash Bros Melee.
Ps2 Slim (quite a bit later) - I'd got back in to gaming, and wanted to try something new. This already had a large cheapish library, and Game had a surprisingly good bundle on offer. Probably played Tekken 5 the most - before my game save was corrupted. :mad:
Mega Drive 32x - because they used to be cheap, I'd already bought Chaotix, and I needed one to play it. This one came with loads of MD games as a nice bonus :)
Sega Multimega - I bought this because I was fairly addicted to MD collecting at this point, and it was bargainous (again, came with loads of MD games). It sits in front of my smallish lcd tv / computer monitor at home (which sadly makes games I play on it look terrible).
Sega Nomad - A surprise present (along with Bare Knuckle 3) from my boyfriend. It's very useful for travelling, and makes me happy.
DS Lite (black) - I would've probably never bought this, but the boyfriend wanted one, so he bought an "old" DS from evilbay. I enjoyed Mario Kart & Animal Crossing, but the fat DS hurt my hands with prolonged use. This was the perfect solution.
Sega Saturn - because I'd always wanted one. Got one in a surprising pre-Xmas evilbay deal, which was later complimented by my best charity shop find ever (lots of good, cib Japanese games including Nights, Bomberman, Panzer Dragoon 1&2 etc).
Game Boy (original brickish one) - £3 boxed and complete from a market - just couldn't say no. Hardly used it, really - just sits on a shelf.
Fairchild channel F - It was incredibly cheap, and I was curious. The sound is broken, but the games are quite fun - so I decided to keep it. :)
Sega Dreamcast - most recent. I'd resisted this one, as I really didn't want to collect for yet another console - but it was cheap, and I've only got a few games so far.

Oh, also:
Psx - which I have purely for this. Even though I also have this - don't look at me like that, it was £1.50 - and this, which I found recently among my Saturn imports. I didn't buy this, and really don't remember where it came from, what is it??

Master System: Came before I was born.
Mega Drive: Came the year I was born.
Game Boy Color: I have no idea, it came right out of the blue from my parents. I was 6ish at the time.
Nintendo 64: I was young, it was 2000 and I wanted a 64, what can I say.
Game Boy Advance: Hype mostly.
PlayStation 2: My father actually brought it for me... I rejected it. I seriously rejected it. It only got booted up a month later because my father set it up. We got a memory card a year later when we brought a second hand Final Fantasy X (Which honestly? Not bad for a Final Fantasy game). Since then, it's actually been very good, I regret rejecting it.
Gamecube: The Nintendo fanboy inside of me cried wolf, that and I wanted to play Super Smash Bros. Melee.
Nintendo DS: Both fanboy and the absolute NEED for something with a backlight. My parents refused to get an SP because they 'didn't see the point'. That won't reflect on itself in optical bills you know. That, and AA batteries are expensive.
Wii: Mostly hype, now delegated to the role of being AWESOME for homebrew, hell yeah!
Nintendo DS lite: My friends had it, and I truly regret getting it, the hinge broke and the touch screen was partially dead on arrival, great Christmas present[/sarcasm]. I ended up giving it away to a friend that had more use for it then I ever did. ^_^
Sega CD: Finally, I can fall a few generations back. Basically, I decided my Mega Drive needed an extension, the poor guy looked a bit short compared to every other mature 'Drive out there. The battery was dead though, but nothing massive helps from TmEE can't fix =3. It is now powerful and always ready for action.[/innuendo]
Nintendo DSi: I wanted a portable web browser and a brighter backlight, and an excuse to replace my outdated R4 DS (It turns out most of the problems are because of the Micro SD card, so I'm going to have to munge up $10 I guess).

Over the course of my life, I've gotten several spare Mega Drives and Master Systems, all by accident. We got a Mega Drive trying to get controllers, a Master System with some games, and the Sega CD came with two Mega Drives and a Master System.

Atari 2600 - Pure nostalgia, and maybe River Raid

In the order I got my systems. (and this is crazy because I'm primarily a PC gamer, if you can believe that)

• NES - To have a game system, and Paperboy (didn't know Genesis had come out already...or what it was)
  
  
• Sega Genesis - To have a good game system. Too many games to list before I actually got one.

• Super NES (aka the white Genesis) - Super Mario World (and later Link to the Past)

• Sega Game Gear - A summer where I had no TV, and Nomad hadn’t come out yet. I got Sonic 2, and Mortal Kombat with it. The Game Gear saved that summer.
  
  
• Sega 32X - Doom

• Playstation - Mortal Kombat Trilogy, Twisted Metal (and all those other first gen PSX games that were so good, that Sony let 989 Sucks run into the ground, Jumping Flash, ESPN Extreme Games, Warhawk, Battle Arena Toshinden)
  Sega Saturn - Panzer Dragoon (I even have Saga,) my first importing system for the Capcom vs. Series, and Biohazard (to get it uncut, and have the only version with a bonus game)

• Nintendo 64 - Mario 64, Goldeneye
  
  
• Sega CD - Sonic CD, to have a CD player (it can output a black screen too, to make it seem like your TV is off) and to finally have one, after renting it all those years.
  I should note that this thing reads scratched CD's better than any other CD player I've used.
  
  
• Sega Dreamcast - First system I bought with my own cash, first system of the 128 bit generation (Xbox, PS2, GC) and graphics that were way ahead of their time.
  I picked it up with 3 extra controllers, 4 VMU's, 4 Jump Packs, NFL 2K, Sonic Adventure, and Soul Calibur. Never looked back, best buy I've ever made in my life. Period.
  I saved all my lunch money every day for three months, and I had over $600, if not over $700 in my back pocket when I bought this thing. The American dream.
  

• Sega Nomad - Second system I bought with my own money, ordered direct from Sega for an average price of $80
  Most faithful portable Genesis, surprised they were still available new, and direct.
  
  
• GameCube - Dreamcast was discontinued. Semi big mistake, nothing to good ever came out. I got it with Rogue Leader, and IMHO it's still the best looking game on there. Of course I got Metroid Prime, Melee, and the exclusive Resident Evil games though. RE4 on PC
  
  
• Sega Saturn - Panzer Dragoon (I even have Saga,) Nights into Dreams, and to import games (my only imported games)
  X-men Vs. Street Fighter, Marvel Super Heroes Vs. Street Fighter, and Biohazard to have it uncut, for the exclusive mini game, and exclusive enemies.
  
  
• Xbox - I could put my own music in the games! This was the best follow up to Dreamcast too. Sega really started putting all their best games on this. Xbox 1 is a hardcore gamers system. Too good, and a sign of the good things to come in the next generation.
  I prefer the Fatty (controller) for Halo and sports games.
  I prefer the S controller for fighters, platformers, and Tony Hawk games.

• GBA SP 2 - To finally have a GB, and because it was finally back lit.

• Playstation 2 - 2006 for $20: can't say no to a good deal. Sold it recently for $50

• Playstation 3 - I got it for $60, and it's PS2 compatible. I chose it over 360 because of controller freedom via USB, I play games with an Xbox S controller.

• Wii - I borrow a modded one. I can’t bring myself to buy a $100 system for twice it’s value.
  
  
• PSP - If I get one, it's for emulator purposes, and Ultimate Ghosts N Goblins
  
  
• Xbox 360 - Doubt I'll ever have one. They just scare me into thinking they break all the time. I loved the first Xbox, but this one seems like a flop to me hardware longevity wise.
  I do desire one though, with it's original firmware, since I despise the new firmware. The original interface was soooooooooooo good!!! MS copying off of Nintendo has lead to fail.

hey, its good to remember why you did what you did for a system. Video games and BMX bikes were my hobbies. Plus its good to see what people liked about a system and why they got it. If good games sell a system..then whats games did it then

N64 - Nostalgia an GoldenEye.
DSi - More or less an excuse to replace my messed up DS Lite.
XBox - My mom's friend sent it to me with Halo, Splinter Cell Pandora, and GTA 3.
Saturn - Saw it for a good price at a thrift store and got Legend of Oasis and a memory card.
PC - It's always been available.

There are only four systems I bought for specific games.

NES - Super Mario 3
Genesis Sonic 2
Saturn - Guardian Heroes
Xbox - Outrun 2/Burnout 3

Everything else I bought for the joy of gaming.

game boy- Something to play while I was going around.

genesis and playstation- my sibling for whatever reason decided, shared

dreamcast- Cheap, solid library, and a sizable power step up from the psx.

gamecube- A gift, was excited about sonic mega collection (I no longer had a genesis.)

saturn- I wanted to get into imports but money dried up. I only have about 5 of them. Maybe latter down the line. Nights was nice. Also for oasis and hang-on.

xbox- Mainly for Shenmue 2. The comps were nice.

game.com- RE2, MK Tril, and Sonic Jam. Got the system with a handful of games, relatively inexpensive.

I got all my consoles because there are good driving games and/or Shoot-em-Up/Run & Gun Platformers on those consoles, but if a console has at least one Gradius, Sonic, Thunder Force, Contra or R-Type game, I put priority on those.

However, I do get console clones out of curiosity: how accurate is the clone? How compatible is it? Any improvements that can be made(I've been modding the crap out of my RetroDuo lately - it's a modder's toy)?

Bit Boy!

MD/Genesis - It's the most kickass console ever made.

Dreamcast - It looks great.

SFC/SNES - Link to the Past and Donkey Kong Country. Kept it for Super Metroid.

GameBoy - Christmas present.

GameGear - Same, I think.

SMS - My dad bought it for us/him.

GBA - Metroid Fusion.

PS1 - FF7, Tekken 2 and Resident Evil 2.

PS2 - Not sure, it kinda sucks.

megadrive-remembered i from early childhood
playstation- had one since i remember

megadrive add ons- 32bit cd megadrive? i had to have it! ps. first thing i played doom on

3do-easily burned games and a surprising amount of good ones e.g. poed killing time and sf2
master system-best gift ever!

gamecube- resident evil remake

saturn-lots of d2 games aswell as quake and resident evil

dreamcast- all round fun games lots of fun with friends even though i adnt even heard of it when i bought it

ps3- got really bored of the 360 and the people online

i think that wraps up my favs!

NES: My dad got it, dudnt have control over it. Dont own it anymore I gave it to my one friend when I was young (young and STUPID obviously)

Sega Genesis: Parents got it for me when I recieved first communion (spring 94), it came with sonic 2, and my god was I hooked to that game! Something would happen to it in 97, so we got a new genesis (both were model 2's) by 2005 sadly it wasnt working that great, so I bought a used one for 30 bucks (also could pick 2 games) also its a model 1 (high def model) love it.

Game Boy Pocket: Asked for it for my bday in 96 i'd say, I lpved it I only had donkey kong land and sml3: wario land, one day my dad got mad at me and threw it, it was never the same and slowly died :( I would get a brick gameboy in 2002 for 10 bucks, it was fun to play for about a year, but then lines wouldnt appear for reason

Virtual Boy: Yes I admit I had it, I got money for confirmation (holy sacrament) and I got it, it was 30 bucks I believe, I had wario land, mario tennis, teleroboxer. Someone would actually buy it off of me for 30 bucks. And I have never regretted sellin it, it ate batteries soooo much! (WHY was it on batteries!!)

Nintendo 64 - For 8th grade graduation (1998), pretty much super mario 94, mario kart, still love playin it today

Playstation 2 - because it seemed like the obvious choice to get, and i love it

GBA SP - well in 2001 I sorta wanted a gba, but never got it. in 2003 I got my first job at amc theatres, and I knew what I was gonna buy with my first check! a GBA SP! I got it with super mario world,, and still love it today, also i'd rebuy donkey kong land, and sml3: wario land again.

XBOX360 - I got this 3 years ago, it just seemed like the right choice. 3 things made the choice easy
1) PS3 was 600 bucks!!! (ok also 500 bucks) 2) GTA4 would be released on the 360 the same day 3) WWE Smackdown VS Raw 2007 wasnt gonna be fore PS3, just 360 (out of the new consoles) also I got it the week before ps3 and wii came out, target had a deal where you'd get a $50 gift card with the 360. so I only paid 10 bucks for wwe smackdown vs raw 2007.

Gamecube - Sonic Gems Collection, seriously it bugged me to death that I never played sonic cd, and I was so mad sonic gems never came out here in the usa for ps2. I saw a gamecube used for 30 bucks so I got it, also got sonic adventures 1 & 2, so yea as odd as it sounds i got anintendo console to play sonic. also the game boy player is cool.

Retrogen - a PORTABLE GENESIS! nuff said, why did I choose it over a genmoble (thats comin out next week right?) well I didnt need the built in games, i dont have a job now, so retogen is cheaper. also I was in a video game store and saw it, I knew I had to get it!

GB - because of a schoolmate
MD- present from my dad, knew nothing about it
SNES - my sister wanted her own console, it became mine after a while
GAME GEAR - wanted to have something portable that was close to MD, never played it much though as the imports were few and very expensive

I was dying to get a 32x JUST to play Knuckles Chaotix, (god how difficult it was to buy one). 4 years later, got the 32x, lost the patch cable, Knuckles chaotix cart stored gathering dust. Trying to find another patch cable for it on ebay lol.

Funny you should mention that given that there had been th epotential for Sega to team up on the PSX with Sony, Tom Kalinse proposed it, Sony was for it, but Sega of Japan said "no way." Not that it isn't possible that Sega could have gotten shafted by such a deal, like Nintendo nearly did over their "Play Station" CD unit. (Sony would have had virtually total control over licencing and releases of all CD based games)

And Sega of Japan was just being bitter...

We could have had the Sega 64, the Sega Playstation, or just the 32X (if it was up to Sega of America)...all three better options than what happened.

What the hell was SoJ's problem? They never really accomplished anything but running the company into the ground in the 90s. Didn't the CEO or chairman think that Amerians were idiots, or something, and never listened to SoA even if they had good ideas?

We discussed this to death.

Tom Kalinske was a total idiot who ruined the company. I got no idea whatsoever why people think so highly of him. SoA lost $700 million Dollars in three years under his rule. He was responsible for practically all the decisions that led to the company's fall.
