*Sigh* ~-RUMOR-~ looks like the NiGHTS fanbase got an email...

I had a copy of Sega Superstars Tennis come with my second proper 360 back in the day, and let me tell you, for being a FREE GAME it sure sucked. I'll give some credit for Nintendo's bizarre Mario sports titles like Mario Tennis and Mario Golf, but seeing Sega's track record as of late I can't imagine this game being all that good.

I will always love Sega in their glory days, and I always spot the occassional gem from them today (Virtua Fighter is always reliable fo example), but in my personal speculation this kart game is likely not going to cut it no matter who makes the roster.

I do, however, think it will trash the hell out of Atari Karts. :p (still can't believe I bought that one for the Jaguar)

NiGHTS just had a new game released on Wii not that long ago, NiGHTS was in Sega Superstars on Eye Toy, and Sega Superstars Tennis. He's got way more base than Alex Kidd in this day and age.

And they're going to put in Alex Kidd instead, a 30 year old mascot who hasn't had a game since 1989.

The NiGHTS fanbase is different. Their sources have never been wrong. What makes you think their information is wrong this time?

Except they aren't rumors. Sumo Digital has been pretty open about who is or isn't in the game. Sumo had to stop because they knew that giving this information to the kiddies could get them into deep shit with SEGA. For example, I know for a fact that Vectorman won't be in this game, but I promised that I won't spread the email.

There's a difference. Those sources that Melf has spoken to gave out information they know they wouldn't get fired for. In this case, what the NiGHTS fanbase has been told is actually sensitive information. Just like when they found out about Journey of Dreams way before anyone else. Did Melf know about Journey of Dreams before anyone else and promise not to mention who his source was so that the person (or persons) wouldn't get fired? I don't think so.

That's what I meant. Greg Johnson has stated, both on the official SEGA forums and a Joystiq article, that SEGA is interested in doing DLC, but they have to get this game out the door first before worrying about it. Once DLC happens, this campaign will show SEGA that we want NiGHTS as DLC. If we didn't start this campaign as early as we did, who knows what could have happened. DiGi Valentine was given the luxury of being told the final roster ahead of time and know that NiGHTS is not a playable character (nor a vehicle).

Of course Vectorman isn't in this game. It should be common knowledge at this point. When was the last time SEGA gave a shit about Vectorman? You might as well say that you know for a fact that ECCO isn't in this game, while you're at it.

Anyway, I'm not sure what you're trying to prove. If the "NiGHTS fanbase" was really privy to the development of Journey of Dreams and this stupid kart racer, all I can say is that it's a shame that they aren't given any "insider" info on projects that are actually worth two shits.

Two statements contradict here. If SUMO has been so open, why do they now refuse to say if NiGHTS isn't in the game or not due to a "marketing campaign" by Sega on nightsintodreams.com?

And Jerry is right, why would Vectorman even be considered for this game in the first place. He had all of 2 games, and they were released very late in the Genesis' lifespan.

Yeah, OK. Go look at the Michael Jackson/Sonic 3 article and tell me that there was no one talking there that could've been in hot water. I don't know, maybe Roger Hector, who retracted his statements?

But we don't even know if Sega will go in a DLC direction. And again, we don't know if NiGHTS won't be in the game or not. And you really have no proof that this whole NiGHTS campaign has gotten the attention of anyone at Sega, only the people at SUMO.
