I really don't like how the Tototek SMS converter sticks out at the top of the standard Genesis/Megadrive cartridge casing.

Is it possible to cut up a Game Genie casing and use that instead, or would the converter pcb not fit? How about the EA, Accolade or Virtua Racing carts?
Maybe try a VR Racing cart. They're cheap and easy to obtain.Quote:

The issue with using the VR case or the EA case is the same - the screws will be in the wrong place. You'll probably have to use hot glue to hold it closed rather than screws.
Are the VR carts taller than the Accolade or Game Genie carts?
The VR cart is just slightly taller than the GG. No idea about Accolade carts... don't have any.

A better solution might be to add on to the regular cart with extra plastic or something.
I've had a few Genny prototypes come through my hands that did something of the sort. In many cases, developers epoxied two carts together in order to conceal long(er) pcbs. The end result was surprisingly clean. The long pcbs accommodated screw holes though, whereas these converters would not. You'd have to get a little more creative as a result.Quote:

I got one of these tototek converters. He had already had it in a blank generic cart. Honestly, I think the picture is shot funny or something, it is not that much space between the to the sms cart slot. Plus you have the pause button and another cartridge slot on the back of the converter for japanese sms games. Also I played some euro sms games and they work fine.
Its a shame these Tototek SMS converters don't come in a nice fitting cart case,
I just don't like the idea of having a green pcb sticking out of my console.
(I also don't like seeing the pcb stick out of a cut open cart, thats just bad looking)
A "nice" case doubles the price for anything of this size and price range. It's probably the main reason the NeoFlash devices are so much more expensive - they all come with a "nice" custom case. The plastic may be cheap, but custom plastic cases made in small quantities are mega-expensive.Quote:

Here is a good review and pictures of the tototek creation. A good man and good products in general IMO. Bottom line, if you don't have a genny model 1, and you want an sms converter, this is a good product, also it is brand new and clean, and it works great.;)
