I had no idea what a Master System was until a few years ago when i finally discovered it and some awesome games to go along with it

I remember completely missing the Master System era, because i was around.. 10 at the time?
And I just didn't go out shopping much at that age, so the only time I'd actually see consoles was when I'd visit the Intertoys toy shop in a town nearby.
(which wasn't often)
In our house we had an Atari ST with a lot of games and I had my own C64 (with tape drive)
so I guess the NES and SMS era kinda.. went by me without me ever desiring one.
I knew of the NES though, a neighbour kid of mine had one and I played Mario 1 on it,
didn't impress me, the Atari ST had much nicer looking games.
I think it wasn't until 1990 that I really started visiting toy stores just to see the new games,
when I went to highschool in 1991 I always went there at least two times a week,
But even then I'd see Master System stuff but.. I guess it just didn't really register to me as anything interesting.
NES and Megadrive were awesome though, looking back I guess the SMS was kinda hidden in a corner..
then again.. I remember there being SMS shown, but.. guess it never interested me as much as the NES or MD.
shame though, I got 2 of them now and a lot of games, and the games are beautiful and very colorful,
if they had had better games support I might have even said that the SMS is superior to the NES.
But as it stands now its like the Gamecube Vs the PS2, PS2 looks less nice graphically but just has so much more choice of games.

If I saw or heard anything about the Master System during it's lifespan, I've phased it out of my memory. The only non-Nintendo console I remember hearing about during that period was the TG-16, but that was only while paging greedily through the Sears XMas catalog.
The Xbox version of Legacy of Kain Defiance popped through the door today; the PS2 version came two days earlier, but it was the Xb1 one I wanted to play. Not impressed with the graphics, look identical to the PS2's; the controls are okay though. Still as great as I remembered it; got a lot of issues with collision (I've dropped through a few platforms already) and the gameplay is quite repetitive, but the excellent story and voice acting are enough to make me push on with it. Soul Reaver 1 is still the best in the saga, though; might play that again after this. 5803

I'm figuring that Black Friday probably had something to do with the shortage of posts yesterday. I don't think we even had Black Friday where I'm from.

The only parts of the world where the Master System was doing better than the NES were places where Nintendo didn't bother investing as much into.
