Mega Man
Panorama Cotton - might be my favourite game on the system actually, but I still don't own the real cart.
Monster World IV - excellent graphics, fun mechanics, and a decent challenge later on. I miss the "seamless world" layout and managing my equipment from II and III though.
Langrisser II - farily deep combat and character builder, more challenging than the snes game and the music is awesome.
Battle Mania Daiginjou - Haven't seen many shooters with this much personality or variety and the partner system is great.
Contra, Dynamite Headdy, Bare Knuckle III - All better than the western versions imo.
A few more that I don't have time to comment on right now:
Yu Yu Hakusho: Makyou Toitsusen
Puyo Puyo II
Twinkle Tale
King Colossus
Columns III, Elemental Master, Rolling Thunder 3 - We didn't get those here :(
Alien Soldier - My favorite Megadrive game period!
Dynamite Headdy - Yes it's better than it's American counterpart!
Bare Knuckle III - Beats the crap out of SOR 3!!!
Battle Mania II - I'm anticipating awesomeness since it has yet to arrive in the mail!!!
Bare Knuckle III
Monsterworld IV
Golden Axe III
-MegaMan The Wily Wars(WHY NO NORTH AMERICAN RELEASE?! WTF, Capcom???)
-Contra The Hard Corps(Japanese version is TONS better than the US version; unlimited continues + life bar = win)
-Zero Wing(you know what this is for, but also because it's a Shoot-em-Up(do European imports count?) - was Zero Wing ever released in North America? I don't think so)
yes EU imports count too.
Panorama Cotton, Battle Mania Daiginjou, Pulseman, golden Axe III, Dyna Brothers II
Twinkle Tale and Pulseman
I've been meaning to hook up a Ganesis and play some TwinkleTale this winter, it has been too long since I last played that one!
i'd really like to get golden axe 3 and the smurf but i hate having to put in codes to play them
so i pick "psycho pinball" and "street racer" easy as plug and play
I guess it is, indeed, a matter of perspective. Lol. And the truth is, I haven't played anything considered an import in the U.S.; But, if I had a choice of about 5 titles I'd like to import and play the most, they will be: (in order)
1. Alien Soldier
2. Pulseman
3. Panorama Cotton
4. Mega Man: The Willy Wars
5. Phantasy Star (For bragging rights ;))
Panorama Cotton and Pulseman are definitely are few of my favorites. I'm hoping to buy a copy of Panorama sometime in the near future.
Panorama Cotton
Top-10 most essential Mega Drive imports:
- 1. Bare Knuckle III
- 2. Golden Axe III
- 3. Pengo
- 4. Super Fantasy Zone
- 5. Slap Fight MD
- 6. Verytex
- 7. Battle Mania 2
- 8. Eliminate Down
- 9. Rockman Megaworld (Mega Man: The Wily Wars)
- 10. Gleylancer
Honorable Mentions: Magical Hat, Contra, Dynamite Headdy, Pulseman, Puyo Puyo 2, Rainbow Islands Extra, Wani Wani World, Snow Bros., Yu Yu Hakusho, Twinkle Tale, Panorama Cotton, Dangerous Seed, Twin Hawk / Daisenpu, Wonderboy in Monsterlair, Zero Wing, Monster World IV, Langrisser 2, Phantasy Star 1, Surging Aura, King Colossus, Lord Monarch
(There's no way I'm gonna list RPGs in the Top-10 if you can't actually play them. Not taking the language barrier into consideration the Top-10 would be RPGs mostly, with Monsterworld 4 on #1)
I try not to buy too many import titles for my MD. I have to draw some limits on what I collect, otherwise there's just no end to it. That's why I focus mostly on European titles, and then only the ones that I really want to play.
Even so, I do have to mention these two:
- Puyo Puyo 2
- The Revenge of Shinobi REV00, which counts as an import in Europe. If I can ever get my hands on a copy...
Bare Knuckle III, Golden Axe III, Megaman: The Wily Wars, Pulseman and the Japanese version of Sonic The Hedgehog.
