Yeah, we did get some crappy box art over here. I'm still trying to figure out what's going on with the artwork for Phalanx for the SNES.
Thanks for sharing, that article was a good read.
But if you think the TG16 had bad art, the Master System takes it to a whole new level.

its true the SMS had some of the worst cover art ever created, only surpassed by the Atari 7800.

Hell, they even game Ninja Golf the honor of a color cartridge label:

That 7800 stuff aint half bad.
I still need to give Ninja Golf as hot one of these days.
But out of those 3 SMS games Enduro racer isn't that bad. The other 2 however......
Some of the covers still caught my eyes, in a good way! I'm not very picky though.

Does this make up for the Enduro Racer art?
The imagination that went into these covers is astounding. I mean, this art really screams anime styled puzzle-solving Metroidesque adventure. They nailed it.
I like the SMS boxes because they are so uniform and minimalistic, they really stand out. Yes, the art is super poor, but they still have a charm about them. Most other game art is extremely busy. Sometimes it is even hard finding the damn game title.
