Awesome man, the Dreamcast is one of the few systems I'm interested in that I still don't own. When I get some more disposable income, I'll pick one up. That being said, enjoy your new baby, and I'll see you on the battlefield that is CS:S.
very awesome! enjoy your dreamcast! i love mine!
What a great start to this Xmas! I've never really gotten into collecting for the Dreamcast though, mostly because I just burn all the games I want to play, only about 15 games are legit in my collection, which I had when I was a wee little boy.
Thanks you guys! I really appreciate it. By the way, I need to tell you all about my VMU with all the previous owners data. Apparently I got shafted and the guy who sold this to my mom kept all the awesome games. ;)
There are saves from King of Fighters 1999, Sonic Adventure, Sonic Shuffle, Crazy Taxi, and a few others. They date back from 1/16/2006 to 9/4/2009.
This is a bit off topic but....Is that a microwave in your room?
Sweet haul by the way. My parents would never let me even guess what my presents were until Christmas. If I even said "I bet I got a ____" You better believe they would scold me in Russian. I don't think they got the whole idea that Christmas time was supposed to be happy. I did get good presents though :D
Call me crazy, but that's a wine cooler. I keep apples, water bottles, Coke/Pepsi, and I cool off my Cadbury Chocolate in there. Wasn't my purchase, Mom thought it was a good idea.
EDIT : Fun Fact - my wine cooler is behind my head in my avatar. Same angle was used to take my avatar picture as the picture of me holding a dreamcast.
Thanks. I've had a few friends with parents like that in the past. Good to hear it always turned out well though. :D
Cool, I miss chuchu rocket.
The best advice I can give you for grabbing games:
When picking up used games locally from any mom & pop store, always inspect the discs for scratches, if the game disc was 'polished' it's very likely the bottom will have a weird pattern to the reflection, like something spilled on it, only to make a shiny pattern. (hard to describe)
It will be 'scratch free' of course but with a weird pattern in the reflection; Usually totally unplayable and unable to boot.
I've had this happen to me a few times when finding a decent game worth picking up & it's a fucking SIN that used game stores destroy them so easily over what could amount to a few light scratches.
Dreamcast game discs are very sensitive to scratches compared to every other console, take care of them.
I've read about Dreamcast discs being fragile but I didn't know it was as severe as you described. Thanks for the heads up; I appreciate it very much. Also, you have nothing to worry about, I take exceptionally good care of all of my possesions. Most of the games/consoles that I've been the sole owner of, still are in store-bought shape.
That is a pretty sweet idea :D I have a mini fridge in my closet that I got as a gift too. I'm scared to open this one little drawer inside it though. Mostly because I put some leftover sandwich in there back in.......August, maybe? Oh well. I just use it for Sodas and other things I don't want my buddies or Girlfriend getting into. Seriously, you would think my main fridge is a treasure chest by how frequently it's raided.
Also, you gotta get Blue Stinger and Evolution for the DC. Blue Stinger is straight up goofy.
I always though Blue Stinger was rather weird. Is it suppose to have horror undertones to it?
You sure like that hat.
BTW, DC + VGA = !!!
I liked Blue Stinger. It was cheesy fun.
Great score with the DC, man. Now please buy all my remaining DC games. :D
Dreamcast rules.
OH MY GOD, YOU ARE 15, STOP WITH THE NOSTALGIA PIECES!!!!!
I'm 24 and I still feel weird being uber nostalgic about the NES.
And DCs are like $20 on eBay, WTF took you so long? I scored one with 8 games, 2 controllers, a VMU, all hookups and in mint condition for $40 shipped. BTW, Sonic Adventure was one of those games, CIB, which often sells for ~$15 by itself.
Get on the boat boy!
oh...and unless you have an uber rare copy protected DC (I don't know if they even sold them stateside), dcisozone.com...YOU'RE WELCOME!!!!
for delete happy mods: I only posted that link for the homebrew on that site, of course.
Bi-polar Nerd Rage. != Advice justifying an inferred 'THANK YOU'; Dreamcast just 'made' someones Christmas, and here you are criticizing him & pissing and moaning about your own comparison.
You need therapy, or a stick-in-ass surgical readjustment of some sort.
Great!
Maybe this is a great time to change your avatar photo for that 1st one where you're smiling. ;)
Hey congrats man! DC is awesome, glad to see that you're x-mas is turning out to be an awesome one. WELCOME TO THE FAMILY! And btw, ignore that 17daysdouche be proud and enjoy your dreamcast man!
Oh, I'm sorry. I guess young people aren't allowed to have memories or life experiences.
That'd be fine and dandy, but for the past two years that I've had an ebay account, I ALWAYS got fucking sniped at the last 2 minutes. I've tried on 9 occasions to get one but always, within the final seconds, I'd get the "You have been outbid" message.
It also doesn't help that every place that I've lived in, never had a dreamcast for sale. Not In Engalnd or America. This is the first Dreamcast I've ever seen in person.
In case you had trouble, I'll highlight my point from the first paragraph. Just in case you somehow missed that key sentence while scanning.
Thank you, KD.
Thanks, I appreciate it. Don't worry, I don't take his criticism with any real weight.
I like the serious looking avatar, but you will see me smiling more.
Not a fan of DC, Melf?
I don't think it has to do with Melf being a fan of DC, I think it's that DC games are just so readily findable and burnable thanks to the net that no one buys them.
I commend your nostalgia pieces, especially because you're 15.
I got Dreamcast when I was 15.
It was the best money I ever spent.
Hard to believe that was 10 years ago (+2 months)
I picked mine up used, with 3 extra controllers, 4 VMU's, 4 Jump Packs, Sonic Adventure, Soul Calibur, and NFL 2K
My house was the place to be until GameCube came out, and I had almost every single popular DC game there was up to that point.
Crazy Taxi, Ecco, MvC2, I even imported SSF2T and Godzilla Maximum Impact, and kept up with the NFL and NBA 2K games every year. (not listing many games because I assume DC awesomeness is common knowledge here)
Nice haul! I love Chu Chu Rocket, and I love my DC. I sold my Xbox for it back in the day, and then finally picked up a Saturn and it's pretty much been Sega ever since! Enjoy.
Your long ago memories are our yesterdays.
But when you're on a forum about a console from 1989 what do you expect?
This might come as a surprise but...Quote:

That Chu Chu Rocket is awesome! I still believe Dreamcast to be the most important system of all time, mainly since it introduced us to online multiplayer on a home console.
It also introduced us to PS2 level graphics in 1998...microphone gaming, Samba De Amigo, and fishing with a fishing controller.
I dont think that chu chu rocket has any value,i see sealed versions all the time nobody wants one because i think it was packed in with the system? either-way nearly everyone has that game so its not uncommon here in the uk at least to see it sealed.
Make sure to splurge on Capcom fighters for the system, plus Grandia II and Skies of Arcadia.
*cough*More like DC junk*Cough* :p
What? Oh I'm sorry. Nah, just kiddin' Melf. :)
Anyway, the Dreamcast is a great system with a lot of good arcade ports, and some awesome fighting games. My suggestion is get some Capcom games and let the good times roll! Oh, and get rid of those 3rd party controllers, they're pretty shitty IMO.
Here's what I recommend for Dreamcast:
Street Fighter III 3rd Strike
Marvel Vs. Capcom 2
Street Fighter Alpha 3
Power Stone
Crazy Taxi
Sonic Adventure
Walt Disney World: Magical Racing Tour (Which I see you already have, great game!)
There's others, but I can't think of anything else ATM. Dreamcast is a great system though.
Also, you look like a totally different person in the picture that you're smiling when compared to you avatar.
I just turned 24, and I don't feel bad about feeling nostalgic about the NES. IDK about you, but I've been playing it since I was four. I think 20 years of playing a system as classic as the NES is long enough to harbor great feelings of joy when playing it. The NES probably has the most nostalgia tied with it just due to how epic it is and was. I've only had a Genesis since I was 13, so nostalgia doesn't play much of a part in it for me. I do like the Genny more than the SNES, and I've had the SNES longer. I don't get the fanboyism, as they are both great systems, but there's something about the Genesis that I like better than the SNES.
Also get Tech Romancer, a 3D Capcom fighter with giant mechs. Great, underrated Capcom fighter.
Very different, but 60FPS + 480p makes up for the jolt. And yeah, IIRC Saturn had the sticks as well.Quote:
If Virtual On is anything like the Saturn version, it's going to be pretty much mech-battle awesomeness.
Sweeeeeeeeeet dude! Looks like a nice little collection. I mean it came with real games not copies (like I see so often!)
I really want to grab Blue Stinger myself. It does look kinda fun!
I should really use the bloody machine my roomie have before he moves in february. Ikaruga and the likes, awh-yeah!
Nice Dreamcast you got there now all you need is Jet Grind Radio and your good to go! Powerstone and DOA2 are awesome 3D fighting games and even more awesome if you can get 2 or more people to play at once!
Very awesome present, man! Your parents must be very awesome for giving you a Dreamcast as an early Christmas present. The only video game related early present that I can remember for now is a PSP Slim my parents gave me on 2007. Also, in 2008, I wanted to get a Saturn for Christmas (why? My PS2's modchip f'ed up), but I didn't get it:cry:
Nice find sega fan! Excellent early Christmas present specially in boxed mint condition. I have 2 Dreamcasts, barely any games!!!
I want to share a little story of my own, well how i got TWO Dreamcasts that is!
Yeah, i got my first Dreamcast brand new back in 2002 on my 10th birthday just before they discontinued them in Europe, BUT! (think it was back in 04) I was out in the street about to cross the road and saw this guy approaching me with a big black bag he was humping on his back that was about to cross the road too. He told me he had a Dreamcast with a Keyboard, VMU and a controller that he was going to take to the charity shop. He asked me if i wanted it free of charge instead. Oh boy how could i refuse that offer! I was especially pleased it came with a VMU so that i could finally save some games on the little DC library i had. So there you go, scored myself a free spare!
Well thats me. Unfortunately i don't have very much nostalgia with my DC, specially the one on my Birthday came with a dodgy RF modulator so all the games appeared too bright to the point where i could barely see anything. :( I thought something was wrong with my DC. The second DC came to the rescue with a fully working RF mod, so that was that.
I recommend picking up a game called Re-Volt. Excellent R/C racing game with pretty graphics for 1999.:D
