Even "back in the day" Goldeneye got pretty stale due to the mostly flat environments and pre-set weapons etc. 4 players were a must for any real fun to be had. Now Perfect Dark, I still find that's the best multi-player FPS I've ever played. I still haven't seen a game that offers bots like Perfect Dark did.
To be fair, older games often offer simplicity(something many retro gamers prefer), but to say Goldeneye sucks? I don't know how I feel about that statement...
Bottom line is that Goldeneye may have had some pretty bad graphics, I'd say they were experimenting, but the gameplay is alright.
I suddenly ... feel old.
Very true. Goldeneye is still awesome. Goldeneye is one of the only games that I play and get a big grin on my face while playing.
Goldneye also has really good graphics. The collision detection is pixel-perfect and all the character models (except natalya) look like the celebs their based upon.
im not saying it sucks , i loved playing that game , just its very outdated
All things age. Hell, The Original Mario Bros is as basic as a platformer can get, but why do people still play it? Not because it's casual, Not because it's mainstream, but because it's held up. Same said for Goldeneye.
Ugh, I can see the day where future children say "That Modern Warfare 2 game sucks, the graphics are gameplay are soooo old".
Personally, I prefer the single player vs. the multiplayer on Goldeneye. I find the multiplayer experience just ends up with everyone shooting the same weapons at each other until one dies, it's near impossible to employ any real strategy besides being a camper piece of shit. With bots, laptop turrets, guns that can shoot through walls, etc. in Perfect Dark, you could get into some really awesome battles with even two players.
Aside from Graphics, they are still both incredible games IMO and I enjoy them more than most modern FPS.
Couldn't you say this for every offline multiplayer FPS, including Perfect Dark. Hell, It's the year 2009, and I still use my Goldeneye techniques in Modern Warfare and Counter-Strike: Source that I've been using since I got good at Goldeneye years and years ago.
So true. I totally agree.
the thing is, I dont dislike newer games. I just dont have time for them anymore. I have to just play something I can just pick up and play through fairly quick..I dont have time for 40 hour games or whatever. Thats why I love Sega Consoles.. alot of quick Arcade action!
i dunno but after 10mins of golden eye ,my friend and i just wanted to play some MW2 , i know that's sad
Weird to say it, but I remember my sister having friends over at the time when she was a teenager, and they would have a blast playing Goldeneye. I couldn't play because I was like 3/4 and didn't have the motor skills, but I have second-hand memories if that counts.
I use to play Goldeneye back in 2006 over in England with all my friends. It kicked ass. Sure, It wasn't 1997, but I've had great experiences with Goldeneye none the less.
No, not really.
