Nintendo announces MD/Gen (AND Turbografx) support for Revolution

Seriously, that Classic NES shit was a farce. It could've been somewhat redeemed if they'd used it to release EarthBound (Zero) or something. But all the games they put out on it (at least in the US) were common NES games. Lame. They didn't even put out many of the best common games (where's StarTropics?). And then they got Namco in on it, and only released Pac-Man -- who even thinks of Pac-Man as an NES game anyway? And then Donkey Kong, Ice Climber, Excitebike? I'd just bought these for $5 a piece on e-Reader cards and then they release a $20 cart version right after. WTF? The Classic NES series was kind of a lame idea to begin with, but Nintendo (of America anyway) made a lame idea terrible.

Not sure what to make of this really. Not sure of what it'll do to the prices of games on eBay either.

And really, I am not that bothered either as I haven't been involved with any consoles since... well... the megadrive. I play my games on the PC, the Game boy Advance and the Megadrive, that's it really. :)

Hopefully lower them. However this summer I'm looking at finshing up my Genesis collection. Just gotta work some more hours and spend some more money.

I doubt it will lower the prices on any rare games. Collectors won't settle for anything less than the original because they're collectors.

Rare games, I admit it won't. But then again, not everyone who buys games does so because they are a collector. With the more common games, it will.

However, it might bring in more people who want the real thing after trying the games on the revolution, so it'll probably balance out.

And there you have it. The Revolution won't hurt the value of games any more than software emulators has done. And emulation has been around a loooooong time.

Maybe an exception if games for currently unemulated (to a simple/playable extent) systems - Saturn, N64 etc - are released via Virtual Console, I dunno.

Exactly. This is simply giving people who play only on consoles what everyone else has had for a very long time. :)
