#2 - Beyond Good & Evil

Finished for the second time. About 16 hours. All pearls, animals, missing one disk. I found it a LOT easier than I did in 2008. Pretty great!


I started up XIII earlier, it was pretty awesome when I was 14.

I also just realised that's three Ubisoft games in a row. :o

Secret of Evermore w/ Balance Patch & 2P attached (yes, a romhack).

The author made a huge effort to make this less grindheavy, giving shared experience to weapons and categorizing spells into 5 different schools also with shared exp. It also got a nice boost in challenge, but not quite enough. The dog is still ungodly powerful from mid-to late game and alchemy is pretty useless in the last area and boss. And you can still stack 8x spells in a row.
The 2P feature was cool, although the game isn't really designed for it and only about half of it is playable that way. It also screws up the Pyramid segment a bit, but nothing gamebreaking. Overall a great experience and I still like it better than Secret of Mana.

I'm playing Barver Battle Saga at the moment, just got it repatched with a new version.

I got Tri Formation (aka Zillion II) for the Sega Mark III today and beat it a few hours ago. It took me a couple of continues, but I managed to pull through. The final boss is actually kinda easy once you have his pattern down.

I actually bought the game several years ago, got so far as "Welcome to the machine", which I didn't know was the last level, got frustrated like all hell, and just stopped playing.
Then a few weeks ago there was a lot of talk on the forum about this game, and I thought, Yeah, it's time to go back. Now I can say that, at least on one platform or another, I've beaten all the Ecco games. (Ecco on the sega cd, ecco 2 on genny, DOF on dreamcast).

Another game I bought years ago at the flea-market I used to work at. Unfortunately, My copy is scratched up pretty bad, and froze up on the ending sequence. :(

#3 - XIII

Beat on Arcade mode. Nice story, Adam West, great style. I liked it a lot.

Tried to start Genji again but it's not working. :( Had a go at Oni but doubt I'll finish it.

17. Air Rescue (SMS)

I've been working on this one off and on for a while. Finally completed it today on both Normal and Hard -- without using any continues either, IIRC.

The control in this game is a nightmare, and the last level requires you to painstakingly navigate underground caverns. Not a great combination, that. But once I realized I could rescue the required number of prisoners without retrieving the uppermost group -- who are at the far end of a particularly narrow set of passages -- then the level went from "unplayable" to "incredibly annoying, but manageable".

This was a moderately entertaining FPS that was too long and unremarkable to be worth playing twice. Other than some annoying bugs (I kept on getting hung up & stuck on the level geometry) there aren't too many faults to find with the game, but it just wasn't terribly exciting. Yet another ho-hum current-gen title that plays it too safe.

I won't count this one as part of this year's beaten titles, as I already beat it once. But it sure was awesome playing it again. It felt a bit like Knuckles in Sonic 2, lol. So awesome. :D

Just beat Red Dead Redemption on a borrowed PS3...pretty awesome, but I got to be very bored by the last few missions and was happy the whole thing was finally over.

I get a great sense of satisfaction to this day beating my old Genesis, Saturn and N64 games...I'm usually just glad its over with playing some of these new fangled ones.

That's a roger roger one-niner, good buddy! Too many games these days are long just for the sake of it. I guess developers are afraid that gamers will feel ripped off if the game doesn't take 20-30 hours to get through.

Honestly, I like my games short and sweet. Games like Resident Evil 4, Gears of War, God of War, Metal Gear Solid, etc. Perfect game length.

And you know that RDR is also out on 360, right?

Beat it last night. It is a complete travesty that capcom did not continue this series as originally planned. The Maximo games captured the vary essence of the old-school platformer, but did it in a modern, three-dimensional game with a new, unique lead character and world (Yes, I know the series is inspired loosely off of the Ghouls and ghosts series).

..... What the hell!? How did I get up on this soapbox again!?
