yeah, he got kind of phoned in the past year or so, probably because he was doing massive amounts of reviews and other stuff with his cinemassacre stuff. He needs to make sure not to spread himself too thin, but at the same time, his real passion is horror/monster movies, so it's understandable he doesn't want to spend all of his time on the Nerd videos.

As for his facts, I've noticed he normally just pulls whatever info is on Wikipedia straight into his review. Still, it's probably as a response to fans/haters getting pissed off at him trying to blast games under a false pretense, which is also why he's probably "less angry" now as many of these games aren't necessarily bad, just hard to play without instructions and an understanding of how the game works. The ramp on Skate or Die 2 (press Select on the title screen) is an excellent example: I thought the game was junk, then I read the instructions, now I realize it was almost Tony Hawk good all the way back in 1990.

hmm, didn't know that. I like how he started it off by walking outside in a "WTF?" scenario with all of the SF 2010 stuff flying around. We had some pretty big disappointments based on what movies predicted, but the iPhone is pretty much on par with future predictions of ~20+ years ago

Yes, it's about time. I wish he would branch out to other systems more often. Sure, review some ancient NES stuff as well, but there is so much other stuff out there waiting to be massacred.

well, originally he exclusively reviewed NES games, which is understandable as it was the most successful system that had "WTF?" games all over the place, especially since most kids didn't read the manuals to learn to play them.

Goddammit I HATE Phoenix Games! They are worse than all of the other known budget title publishers (Xplosiv, XS Games, 505 Games, etc.). The only difference is that those publishers I mentioned actually bring in some good stuff (XS brought Shikigami 2 -but with a butchered translation- and both Syberia games -I heard they were good-, Xplosiv brought both Taito Legends and the Gunbird 1+2 pack and 505 Games brought A LOT of games from Japan)

Yeah I missed Captain S when it was being made but found out about it a few months ago and watched all the videos. Too bad he stopped doing them.

The whole video game review thing started as a fun joke around 9-10 years ago I think, then they eventually ended up on youtube (the 1st 2 ANN videos), and due to the responses he got, it progressed from there. ;)

So yeah, I tend to think he'd be fun hanging out with a Sega fan (so long as he/she wasn't a fanboy :)) Probably more fun to hang out with as a horror/monster movie fan though. ;)

My comment was maybe a bit harsh, but there is that smiley at the end, I thought it would make it seem less serious. It would probably be cool hanging out with him, yeah. And yes, I also kind of had a NES as a kid (I had a Famicom clone, which isn't a bad thing).

But James always does a negative review for everything Sega. There was no review which involved talking about Segas stuff where he didn't come to the conclusion, that Nintendo is better. I'm not saying that this makes his reviews less funny, but I practically never heard a good thing about Genesis or Sega in generall in his reviews. I'd still say he is a fanboy and quite biased towards Nintendo.

The nerd always does a negative review on everything Nintendo - well, he did when he started anyway.
