most accurate/best NES emulator besides Nestopia

I prefer Nestopia and use it whenever possible, but the computers at school always lose their shit when I try to open Nestopia (probably something to do with the fact it runs on a server). All other emulators work, but alas I can't use Nestopia. So...what is the best NES emulator besides Nestopia?

In order of priority:

-gamepad compatibility
-timing accuracy/compatibility (no glitches other than ones that occur on a real NES)
-graphics filters
-ease of use
-geared towards user rather than programmer (Nintendulator has all sorts of shit I don't need)

I'm using Nintendulator right now, but there are no graphics filters and it's kinda clunky overall. I don't want to revert back to wildly inaccurate stuff like RockNES, so what else is good?

Nesticle wins just for the fact that it has a severed hand as a cursor.

I use Nestopia now, but BITD I liked Nesticle and Fce ultra (now FCEUX.)

Try Mednafen, Nestopia does not even work in win7, mednafen sound is also better (more options to tweak).

I use Mednafen on my modded XBOX, but I wasn't sure if it was accurate or not. I guess I'll try it.

That's the icon, the cursor in the emulator window is a severed hand dripping blood.

I really like NESter from back in the day because it was pretty bare-bones as far as emulators go. Nothing fancy, just runs ROMS and runs them well.

Nestopia works fine for me in Windows 7, I don't know why it doesn't work for you.

I'm sorry, I meant nester, so many names resembling each other are going to cause me a knot in the brain..nester, nestopia, nesticle, nestendo, nessie, freenes....whatever.

On my vista machine it does work, but it's really painfull, it takes forever to launch, and then hangs for a good period when you try to modify or move the window. (ZSNES has the same hanging problem at launch, but once it's full screen, it runs fine) BSNES also takes a long time to open. (not so with 9x)

Of course, this it 32-bit vista, IDK about 64-bit stuff. (are you running 32 or 64-bit Win7?)

I've always preferred NESticle but that is probably because I've been using it since like 1998 when I had a 486 with Windows 98 on it!

Nesticle is the absolute worst because of the author's fascination with blood and immature need to name the program after male genitalia. Look for anything besides Nesticle unless you are an immature blood and gore fiend...
