But she does have a big hammer, so it wasn't all bad.
I also liked E-102's levels, same with the Tails and "Eggman" (I'll never get used to calling him that) levels in SA2, but I felt they were severely lacking depth in the gameplay. It felt too much like it was "Hold B, spin the control stick, let go and you win." I really liked blowing everything up in sight, but it didn't feel like I was really doing too much.
And as for the Knuckles levels... well, they're definitely more intricate in SA2. The levels have changeable water levels, multiple sections, etc. Those make them more interesting than the rehashed Sonic levels that Knuckles had in SA. However, there are a couple of levels (like MAD SPACE) that are absurdly annoying. A huge level spanning hundreds of feet of height, having to struggle to get to another section of the level, finding hints that are completely useless (or BACKWARDS, and then only displaying for a brief moment before disappearing!), and wasting time flying around with no clue where to go hoping for the radar to go off. Also, (at least in SA2B) you have to get the emerald pieces in order. The radar only goes off when you're near the current piece. So you could have flown past two of the emerald pieces many times over trying to find the first one, and you'd have no clue. IDK, maybe it was just Mad Space that pushed me over the edge into hating those levels. That level always seems to take FOREVER to finish.
