RPG Maker tips???

So I picked up RPG Maker (for the PS1) to play on my PS2.

I tried to get started with it last night. After an hour and a half of trying different options, and occasionally reading the book that came with it, let's just say I didn't get too far, besides starting the character group and creating a dungeon for them to start in.

I don't have any experience w/ anything like this, besides just being good at playing RPG's. The book that came with the game doesn't seem very clear, at least not while trying to play the game in a dimly-lit room and just consulting the book if stuck.

So if anyone has any general tips for getting started w/ RPG Maker, it would be appreciated. Obviously the info is out there, but I bet someone could just explain some basic tips more clearly than a lot of sources that are already out; plus I have to leave the house now so I can't search the web for the clearest info right now. :)

I don't have any tips really, it's been a LONG time, I'd recommend walkthrough and FAQs online.
All I remember about this game is that I was in awe of the example game and the game had cost a lot.

Yeah it was expensive ($19 for a PS1 game).

Shit they could have made the game more intuitive and self-explanatory!!!
