For the same price as the 64gb iPad you could most likely source an HP convertible laptop with a built-in Wacom digitizer, a hard drive larger than 250GB, multiple gigabytes of RAM, a built in keyboard, a better processor and graphics card than macbooks, the ability to use the operating system of your choice, similar battery life, and also, as an added bonus, the ability to right click. And that's just matching the price and performance; a netbook, boiled-down, is exactly the same as a regular laptop, with the essential components (storage, screen resolution, optical drive etc) scaled-down for portability and cost.
tl,dr: iPad = iPod Touch scaled UP. Netbook = standard laptop scaled DOWN.
What does this offer, besides 'it's an ipod touch but bigger'?
