Don't be scared by the roster. The Tatsunoko characters are pretty awesome.
I'm going to admit right now that I'm a total n00b at fighting games, it took me five hours to beat Super Street Fighter 2 on the Genesis for the first time and I had Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 for about two years before I beat it.
Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom, I think, is one of the best fighting games for beginners to the genre to start out on, and from what I can tell by my friend (who is a fighting game fanatic), is also a game that experience players can enjoy.
I love it.
