Got outbid on Segagaga Limted Edition which sucks, but on the plus side I picked up the awesome Tomb Raider: Legends for XBox 360!

So is Tomb Raider Legends actually good? I know it's been billed as Lara's comeback and a return to form for the series, but so was Angel of Darkness.

I hated the first two Tomb Raiders and what I played of the other, later versions, so I was surprised by how much fun I've had with Legends. They've basically adopted a load of stuff from The Sands of Time. So the controls are tight, the puzzles are tough (but the camera pans around to give you a full view of the area) and the combat is dead simple, but enjoyable. I don't think it's that long, but I prefer shorter action titles because then I find it easier to go back and replay them (like Ghost in the Shell). I'd give it an 8/10.

Took advantage of Gamestop's "buy 2 get 1 free" sale and got:

    - Devil May Cry 3 SE, PS2
    - Alien Hominid, PS2
    - Kings Field Ancient City, PS2
    - Metal Gear Substance, Xbox
    - Otogi 2, Xbox
    - Arx Fatalis, Xbox

I picked up a new copy of ESPN NFL 2K5 to replace my old one that "broke."

Is Retro Gamer any good, Melf? I was going to pick it up, but made myself avoid it because I only just cleared out like 100 EDGE magazines and I really don't want to get into that situation again!

Quite simply: Retro Gamer = best gaming mag on the planet.

It covers everything you could ever think of, with great writing and excellent paper and layouts. I concede that it tends to favor the European computer systems a bit too much, but that's understandable.

Give it a look-see at the bookstore and I'm sure you'll agree about how awesome it is. It's the only mag I really run out to buy every month (I get HGM and GI for free).

I'm at work now, but tonight I'll post what's in the latest issue.

You're right, Melf. Retro Gamer is awesome. I don't agree with some of it, such as the SNES top ten, but then they go and put something like Umihara Kawase in it which just destroys all my complaints!

FINALLY got my hands on another Thunder Force II on eBay. And I also got Gods as well for the Megadrive. I know Accolade ported it, but since it was originally a Bitmap Brothers game I can forgive them for it.

It's based in the UK, but they sell it on this side of the pond too. GamesTM and Edge are the same.
