I'm glad I bought mine when I did, and with the TCD attached + Super System Card 3.0 and the hard case. I love that TCD; it's a sexy little bastard. Doubles as a portable CD player too if you have an AC adapter or carlighter adapter.
I think it's only the TGCD and Duo systems that are stupidly expensive. $40 - $60 seems fair for the regular TG16 system. It's nowhere near as common as a Genesis or SNES and at this point, pricing and popularity would reflect it's uncommon-ness.

There's nothing else to say about Turbo Grafx-16?

It's gonna be a while before I can get any more games, 3 for right now...

Oh yeah, how much of a similarity to Turbo Grafx-16 game cases have to regular Jewel cases? Is it only the tray that cannot be replaced?

If you're interested in imports and you own a PS3, there's a ton of pcengine games on the Japanese PSN store.

The prices on import and domestic systems is off the charts! The system that is closet to it (the Saturn) you can find complete systems imported or domestic for a good deal on ebay.

Yeah, I paid about $40 and $50 shipped for my two Saturns (one had more games than the other). So does this mean that Turbos are worth more than that? (I'm still happy with my purchase)

    A while back I picked up a TG-16 controller from Value Village for 2$, I don't have a TG-16 and I think at this point I'd rather go for a PC-engine DUO-R

I don't have any use for it, so if you want it I can send it over to you for the price of shipping alone.

I think it's worth it. Off the top of my head, there's the bonk series, super zonk, a good splatterhouse and a bunch of others, like shooters, all of which had US realeases. Wouldn't pay more than $40 for the systtem though, since they're common. It also happens to be the ugliest system ever released.

The duo is another story, I would advise you to just buy one of these, but having seen the prices on ebay, it's just not worth it anymore. I don't know what the hell happended, but back in the day, I used to buy and sell tons of these for no more than $120. Now they're like $400. Not worth it! These also have sound issues when the system heats up, I'm talkig all of them!

There are some good cd imports, though I know you dont wanna do that.

I think most good stuff came out here, except for Drac X and street fighter II, so you should be good with just US. I say go for it,if the price is right.

I've come to realize most systems sell for a little more than averaged on forums. $60 before shipping sounds fair to me.

Also, what's so ugly about it? It looks cool. Now if you said the name was ugly, I'd completely agree with you. Anybody out there who call foul at the N64's name, meet Turbo Grafx-16.

Yeah, IMO Turbo Duos are way overpriced. However, it's the cause of demand. I guess you could say it truly is worth $400, but it should be lower.

I also know about the infamous capacitor problems on Duo and Express systems.

Having played almost every single game, I'd have to really disagree. While a decent amount of good games hit state side, more were left in Japan IMO (But that includes CD games, but you already mentioned DracX which is a CD game - so that's far game).

Oh yeah, I forgot to ask, but what are all of these amazing games that can only be had on JHuCard and CD? Can somebody give me a list of titles instead of vague crap that I hear on a regular basis on most other platforms (ESPECIALLY Saturn)?

I had made a big list of US and PCE hucard recommendations on this this forum (don't remember the thread). Search for that. It was a lot to type out, so I'm not going to do it again.

I do want to say this; if you have just the TG16 and not CD attachment or Booster/Booster+, then you can check out this site: http://www.gamesx.com/misctech/pcebp.php

It says PCE, but it's the same pinout as the TG16. Composite video is right there as is both left and right stereo audio outputs. Just get some of the those spare CD audio cables (those old ones) and make yourself some plug in cables That's what I've done (and for testing the pins on the 'scope).

Thanks, I'll go look for it.

Thanks for the pinout, but I'm thinking of using my RF TV since at the moment, my composite AV splitter on my main console TV is full. RF switches can be daisy-chained easily, but the quality is not the best (not as bad when using my awesome RF TV).
