If you havn't done something for yourself then you have no right to whine about the cost of hiring someone else to do it for you. If you think all repros (or review videos) are the same then you should just shut up and educate yourself. I've made stupid assumptions too about things I don't know enough about but when people point out my mistakes I don't argue with them I laugh about it, apologize and move on.
Here's the thing, No one expects this to be free. There is nothing wrong with him making videos and profiting off of them. It's the internet begging, and the big decline in video quality that's pissed a lot of people off. The whole Greg Pabich thing, which I've been trying to avoid, certainly didn't help him. And of course the "Can you do better" argument. Weak.

And that's the problem here. You guys don't question or want to call out what the Nerd is doing. You just want to go along with it and keep eating his shit. Just follow the line like the rest of the sheep.

I don't eat any sh#t I havn't paid a penny towards him unless you count my internet bill for watching the occasional video. He had a meet and greet at a local video game store here but I didn't feel meeting james would be worth skipping half a day of work and paying 10$ for. Also I really have no clue what I'd say to him, I'm more of a casual fan.

Since you are answering for another person, can you give specific names as to whom he was referencing? I'm rather curious about the comparison being made.

Christopher Lloyd, Bruce Campbell, Robert Picardo, etc...

Basically, imagine everyone that's been in any kind of fantasy/scifi movie or tv show that hasn't gone on to bigger and better things. Harrison Ford probably wouldn't sit for hours at a meet & greet booth, but Mark Hamill might. Anthony Daniels and Kenny Baker sure would. You've never been to Comic Con?

Late in my response but yes, this.

To add to the list already given, every single Star Trek actor (though mostly the washed up ones not doing any other work), even the extras. Even the guy in the Gorn suit from the original series who barely even remembers being on Star Trek.

Some of them actually make a decent living on the convention circuit. It's worth noting the conventions also pay them just to be there and maybe talk for thirty minutes to an hour.

I was expecting the comparison to be reasonable though. The specific names you mentioned are in a different league.

I can't help but think of Will Wheaton when discussion moves in the direction of convention/meet and greet lol.

Those are just the recognizable names. Most of them are the types JCU mentioned who are probably in fact smaller celebrities than the AVGN.

Here's the thing, though: even though I would never buy the guy's autograph, I don't think there's anything wrong with him profiting from the celebrity status that he's earned.

Oh, and this $300,000 number that keeps getting tossed around? Do you guys honestly think that's all from donations? A lot of it is, I'm sure, but I'm also pretty positive that he's also including the money he's gotten for selling AVGN shit on eBay, also. I'm sure he also has some financial support from Game Trailers and/or Screw Attack that he's keeping anonymous.

Another question: does ANYONE think that the only money he's spent is what he's gotten from donations? Anyone who honestly believes that needs a good, hard smack to the back of the head. How much of his OWN money do you think he's dumped into this movie (or any of his productions, for that matter)? Movie making is his #1 passion. I'm sure he's using an obscene amount of his own money for this stuff, too.

I dunno what the heck you are all talking about and to be honest from what I have read its a load of bull crap.

I love AVGN I also think he speaks the truth about the bad games that are and were around.

I cant wait for his film to come out as I would pay to watch it. I also wish he would come to the UK as I would pay to see him and speak with him about games and anything else in general.

Just my 2 pence 4 what its worth.

WTF. So many sad haters in this thread. AVGN is a good guy and has always been entertaining, his last review of Ghouls' n ghosts for example.

He did quite a few auctions of original Mike Matei art used in the AVGN episodes.

Cheater has always had this perspective. I know him, you guys probably shouldn't keep arguing, it won't end.

And what I do is nowhere near the level of making an avgn video and certainly nowhere near the scope of making a feature length movie with everything done properly.
    Thanks for the explanation.

Now a real good question, is why do DVD releases take so long? Presumably, the movie is completed, how long can it possibly take to slap the movie on a DVD with crappy menus and tons of copy protection?

I'm very impressed he was able to pull this movie off even if it does end up sucking. I watched his home movies and videos and nothing gave me the impression that he could pull off a legit full length movie.

YES! For Christ's sake, take a look at this: http://www.indiegogo.com/Angry-Video...Nerd-The-Movie See? All donations.

It's completely possible. He has the $325000 from Indiegogo, but he also had that donate button at the top of his website for years. I'm sure there's thousands of dollars more from that.

Speaking of that donate button, I wonder if the people who donated there got the prizes from his IndieGogo fundraiser. Probably not.

Very little if any. There's nothing wrong with him spending money he earned on the movie. It's the money he begged thats pissed everyone off.

I look forward to seeing the budget of this movie. It was already estimated to be $185000 sometime ago. That would certainly piss a lot of people off if he didn't break $300K.

Care you explain what's bullshit? Everything I've said was backed up with facts. I haven't heard a legitimate argument against what I've said yet.

Well the random black guy is a real, legit actor who was on a popular tv show and if he was a big AVGN fan willing to work for cheap then you cant pass that up in favor of a guy like Mike who's not even a real actor.
