Default Fat DS has two white screens..?

So I got this DS that was all busted up, and now it shows me two white screens, both top and bottom.

The ribbon cable had to be replaced and the thing needed a new case. I can hear the startup, but the two white screens are all the picture I get.

The thing is a BEAR to work on, since everything is so small, does anyone know what this could be? Is it still the cable??

If any part of the LCD is cracked. Even the corner that isn't part of the actual screen, the LCD screen will fail to function. It could also be that the cable isn't inserted right. Also, those cables that connect the LCD to the main board are call FFC. They are extremely delicate. Any crease in those cables will cause them to break internally.

I'm not sure what you mean you replaced the ribbon cable, because the ribbon cable is practically glued to the LCD screen. You would have to replace the entire screen.

I haven't fixed a original DS, but I have fixed a DS Lite that was stepped on and the top half was crushed.

It turned out to be the cable after all. A friend of mine put it all together for me, and it works! The parts I got don't really fit together well, and you can tell they are replacements

The cable came off pretty easily, it was glued a little bit to the back of the LCD but most of the original one was gone, anyway. Once, I tried to work on a DS Lite and it gave me a headache. So did this one (why I got somebody else to do it).

Yeah the cables on those are an absolute pain! I shell modded mine at one point and it was a nightmare putting it all back together.

The most complicated thing I want to work on is the Nomad if it has to be a handheld (and I need to get off my duff and do that one now, it has a cap that fell off the board), and then with a nicer LCD on it!

It's odd, I can tackle a laptop or even a whole telephone wiring job, but a DS ticks me off.

I don't see any difficulties in DS, at least not the lite one. Probably because I've done that :
