    Default Vancouver Riot

In 1994 There was a riot in downtown Vancouver that caused about a million dollars in dammage after the Vancouver Canucks lost in game 7, 3-2 to the New York Rangers. I watched people flip a cop car onto it's roof, and saw lots of stores having they're windows smashed and looted.

Because of the short track skating disqualification every South Korean is hunting down and killing all the Chinese gold farmers in World of Warcraft.

Because we played Luongo. Who plays Brodeur 3 games in a row? He's an old guy, they burned him out. I think that USA game was rigged. The Olympic people sat in a board room and said 'Wouldn't it be nice to get the 2nd largest hockey audience in the world (USA) to be glued to the screen for another miracle on ice instead of knocking them out early? Thus, Brodeur again.

Ridiculous. In case you haven't noticed, Brodeur has been on fire all season, setting records for shutouts. Far from being burned out in a 3 game stretch.

The reason he bombed against USA was because they took advantage of the situation & forced him to play the puck, while the Canadian defense didn't mesh well with the forwards or come back to help him.

Canada was juggling line changes every game and finally got Crosby the proper wing mates he needs to be effective.
The defense was awake, and all the forward lines were finishing up their checks, while shutting down the Russian's offense in the neutral zone.

Sucks we got silver in women's curling. I don't think people should be blaming Cheryl Bernard though, the ice hasn't been curling worth shit all tournament long and it was the sweepers fault.

    Shocking!

But how many of those Canadian athletes play on US hockey teams?

And are still Canadian citizens? And 2 of the best American players play on Canadian teams! Plus there are US players who maybe should have been on the team like Gomez & Gionta that play in Canada. And both the Team USA GM and Coach work for the Maple Leafs! So what. They're still proud Americans.

Most of the elite winter athletes in long track speed skating train in Calgary most of the year. Maybe they should be considered Canadian? It's not where you work/train, it's where you're citizenship is.

Anyway, what a hard fought game, and kudos to the US who most never gave a chance of being in the finals. Though a lot of us Canadians sure had them pegged as the toughest team for Canada to beat. The styles are so similar and the quality and depth of all around players is pretty much equal. I'm just glad we won.

No, I really was asking how many Canadian Team players played on US teams, I don't know.

I liked the closing ceremonies, even though NBC decided commercials every 5 minutes was what was needed. And they cut it short to show that ass of a show "Marriage Ref".

Loved the red dress and black boots female "mounties" up there with Michael whats-his-face.

And when all the inflatable representations of Mounties, Beavers, and Moose I told the gf "Those are actual size, beavers and moose are that big in Canada".

But with all the Mounties, Beavers, Moose, hockey players and Maple Leaves...the whole thing kinda came off as a giant Canadian stereotype.

But it was still light years better than the silly shit dancing and double-decker bus turned hedgerow crap England had at the Summer games. China put on this wonderful, opulent ceremony and when its passed to the UK, they show *that*?

It was supposed to be totally tongue-in-cheek and, seeing as how we Canadians are supposed to be able to laugh at ourselves, intended to be a showcase of all the Canadian sterotypes, larger than life.

I also liked Buble's back-up singers but I was more impressed with their tops. The real female mounties I see on a daily basis don't dress like that.

I occasionally flipped over to the NBC coverage of the olympics just to see if they had something else on or for a different perspective, but the constant and lengthy commercial breaks drove me crazy. We have way less commercials up here and I don't watch much live TV anymore so I couldn't handle it. Too bad you didn't have a choice of watcjing the local Canadian CTV/TSN coverage. I bet it would have been more enlightening and a better all-around viewing experience.

Don't get me started on NBC.

Those backup singer Mounties sure were nice, boots, tops, and all. I didn't even know Michael Buble was Canajin.

But that ceremony stopped short of being the single greatest closing ceremony in the history of ever. If the mounties, hockey players, & lumberjacks all lined up together, singing and kicking their legs Rockettes style...it would have been absolutely perfect.
