Yeah the economy sucks. I'm seeing a lot of dudes selling off their collections on ebay for rent money.
I feel bad for the people who collect for like since childhood..
and just getting fired or the rent goes up..it be gone,
hopefully i never have to sell my collection to pay rent or some other bill
considering they created stupid and down right insulting promotional videos such as this one, it's a wonder they even held up for that long:

The funny thing about an oxymoron is, even if you remove the ox, there'll always be a moron. The Question Remains: Y?
Woah, we can link to blip.tv now? Awesome!
Seems like there's only really room for one store in each market, and obviously GameStop is well on it's way to having the complete monopoly over used video game market.
it's Hollywood Video going under, So Gamecrazy going with them..
Eh. I never sell my games (anymore), and I could care less where I get my used games as long as they have a decent selection. GameStop suits me very nicely these days, and it's pretty much the best place I've found to shop for used PS2 games. I shopped at Gamecrazy a few times over the years, but anything that I was interested in (Genesis games, mostly) was always loose and in pretty poor condition. The few times I went, I was pretty underwhelmed.
I guess if I didn't have so many excellent mom & pop game stores around (<3 Luna Games) that specifically cater to "retro" tastes, though, I'd probably have shopped at Gamecrazy a whooooole lot more than I did. And I guess it's a bummer to people who are now only gonna have access to GameStop. C'est la vie, I suppose.
Agree. I can't deny finding a PS2 game that you were looking for, complete and mint in the bargain bin of a GameStop for $3. It's a love-hate relationship I have with that store. What's most irritating about it is the vast amount of used disc only games that have, compared to complete. When you walk in the store, you immediately realize most of what you are seeing are the white spines of the generic cases, with a few authentic in between. Lots of good stuff at cheap prices, but mostly disc only.
What I find most painful is, I know most people have their damn cases, they just either think it would be easier to take just the discs, or just don't feel like tracking them down. I know it wouldn't benefit GS any to encourage the trade in of cases and manuals, but it sure would change my attitude towards the store if they did something like that. Why not? .50 cents store credit for a case and manual? C'mon.
