    Default Video Game Contest

I'm hosting a video game contest at my house with a few of my younger brother's (20 year old) friends.
Everyone brings ten bucks, throws it in a pot, and whoever dominates ALL the selected video games, goes home with whatever's in the pot.
You get 5min per game, and we keep score per person per game.

And I have a quite few systems so there are tons of games to choose from. I'm trying to keep it down to 20 games.

This is what I have so far to play for the contest.....

    Atari
    PONG
    PITFALL

    Nintendo
    Super Mario Bros
    Contra - (no cheat code)

    Sega Genesis
    Terminator Sega CD
    Star Wars Arcade 32x
    Virtua Fighter 32x

    Super Nintendo

    Rock & Roll Racing
    Mario Kart SNES
    F-Zero
    Bomberman

    3DO
    Rebel Assault
    Sewer Sharks

    Sega Saturn
    Burning Rangers
    Shinobi Legends

    Sega Dreamcast
    Crazy Taxi 2
    Mortal Kombat Gold

    Nintendo 64
Goldeneye 64, Wave Racer, Super Smash Bros., Mario Party 1, Demolition Derby

    XBOX
Halo 2, Jet Set Radio Future, Crimson Skies, SSX Tricky, Fusion Frenzy

    PS1
Jedi Power Battles, Frogger, Sled Storm, Tekken (3), Dance Dance Revolution, Need for Speed 2, Tetris 3d

    PS2
Original Guitar Hero, Amplitude, Gran Turismo 4, Worms 3d, Time Crisis Tony Hawk 3

    Wii
Super Smash Brothers Brawl, Wario Smooth Moves, Super Monkey Ball, Wii sports resort, Mario Party 8

    Xbox 360
Geometry Wars, Gears of War, Halo 3

Any ideas for good competition games? Anything I should ad? subtract?
And I really couldn't think of anything for the Actual Genesis that I wanted to play, besides maybe Sonic.... And I really wanted to try and keep the games relatively obscure, basically to show these young kids what old school systems were all about!

There you go with Sewer SharkS again. Not a bad line-up, though not entirely my taste in some cases.
6 days older than SEGA Genesis

Personally, I think these games are very poor choices:

    Burning Rangers
    Mario Party 1
    Mario Party 8
    Virtua Fighter
    Goldeneye 64
    Super Smash Bros.
    Super Smash Bros. Brawl
    Halo 2
F-Zero (Only one player, no points are scored)
    Pong
    Sewer Shark

Simply due to the very short time limit. Go with these arcade-y games instead

    Atari: Space Invaders, Berzerk
NES: Defender II, Donkey Kong, Mario Bros., Donkey Kong Jr.
    Nintendo 64: Magical Tetris Challenge
    32x: Space Harrier, After Burner
    Saturn: NiGHTS into Dreams

Basically, I recommend any arcade games that are on the consoles. Go with Defender, Donkey Kong, Mario Bros., Frogger, Berzerk, Pac-Man, Tetris (I especially love Magical Tetris Challenge), Space Invaders, simple 80s stuff like that that's short and sweet and is a fight for points. Stay away from the bloated stuff like Mario Party, Burning Rangers, the Halos, that take up a lot of time to play. You want to play those games where everyone will get a turn real quick and then you can move on real fast.

It takes longer than 5 minutes to see a score in Burning Rangers. Wouldn't that require someone finishing a level?
A Black Falcon: no, computer games and video games are NOT the same thing. Video games are on consoles, computer games are on PC. The two kinds of games are different, and have significantly different design styles, distribution methods, and game genre selections. Computer gaming and console (video) gaming are NOT the same thing."

Yeah but everyone KNOWS those games... I'm definately gonna throw in Space Invaders and Pac-Man and the 32x Afterburn.... I want to open these guys up to some games they never experienced before though....

Cool! I'll have to check out Counter-Strike!

You might be right.... I'll have to play thru all of these to make sure about issues like that, and how we might score per game if there is no "score"
