Default What kind of Xbox controller is this?

Thought that I had stumbled upon something good for cheap in the wild for once, only $5. But after I bought it, I noticed the retarded looking end.

It is not the regular S-type Xbox controller. Looks like it goes in a PC or something. There are no returns on this, so I'm hoping that it can be used on an actual console. I don't own one yet. Can anyone confirm this?

You'd have to add that extra piece of cable there that determins if your controller goes into an XBox or the USB port on your PC.
Without this it won't fit in either of those.

yea you need the breakaway cable that goes between the Cord and Xbox to see if it'll work w/ an Xbox, those cords can be found for Dirt Cheap on Ebay and Amazon.

That is a standard Xbox controller, minus the necessary breakaway end portion. Keep it as it may well be good once you get another controller with that cable section. If not, then it will be good for parts. Xbox controllers were notorious for having weak strain-relief guides at the controller body. This is why Microsoft developed the breakaway design, in my estimate. Many supposedly defective Xbox controllers are only suffering from broken wires inside the strain relief. I have repaired a few myself.

Biggest mistake many make is wrapping the wire tightly around the controller for storage. This often breaks the hair-thin wires inside the weak strain relief and renders the controller useless. Don't do it.
    It is finished!

Do the standard fat controllers come with the breakaway, or is that only found on certain models? The way it usually goes once shipping is totaled, you might as well have just bought another controller, so I'll probably avoid special ordering one.

All official Xbox controllers have the breakaway cable, you can find them on ebay, sometimes cheap. (especially the misspelled auctions with "cabel" and such -passed up on a pair for $7 with free shipping)

Same thing for the 360 wired pads, except MS added a little key (plastic nub) to make the cable incompatible with the original xbox pads as well as using a USB connector rather than the proprietary one on the xbox. (not sure if the pinout of the connector is still the same, or if that was changed as well as the added locking key -pin placement is identical though and if you carve the key away with a knife, an original xbox controller will fit)

That's good news. I plan on hitting up a pawn shop the sells the consoles for $30, hopefully they include a controller with that. Somehow I doubt it though.
