MegaDrive 1/Genesis 1/All Sega CDs/All Mega CDs all use the same power plug: Center negative barrel
    AND
MegaDrive 2/Genesis 2/Game Gear all use the same plug: Center positive (normally with a yellow tip)

Just to confuse you, game gear can be either, from what i have seen what you say is true of consoles sold in America. Pal & Jpn units use same as master system etc.
Thank you for donating to the Sega 16 bit manuals!

Did not know that! I'll have to check my JP GG at home, I swear I used a regular US adapter on it without any issues, but I could have just pulled it off my current hookups and pressed whatever fit in without paying attention.

Yeah the power rating most people call a Genesis 2 adapter, is some two years older than that name implies. US GG released 1991. Genesis 2 was 1993.

My comment was about the centers being positive versus negative. How does a model 1 fit in a gg if the model 2 does? They aren't even the same size.

That's because there are 2 sizes.

When I get time (Thursday=late night shopping) I *believe I still have both types of power boards at home. My JPN blue (that has TMSS) definately has the 5.5 x 2.1 socket (ie SMS/MD1) and I have quiet a few other Game Gears as well as loose power supplies.

This was on SMSPower a while ago

Game Gear power supplies, incase American MD2/Gen 2 power supply, loose power supply Euro, Aus, JPN SMS, MD2 size.
