Playing the game in the early 90s, I thought the graphics were great. My biggest gripe is that you couldn't actually play as Iceman. Quite disappointing.

I liked this game, which introduced me to the world of Chris Claremont's muties, but it was hard as nails and has a somewhat ominous atmosphere. That jungle was downright creepy!
i love this game. it's hard, stupid and kind of childish but i dig it.
part 2 kinda sucked for me, but oh well.
and them using the reset for a button made it impossible to beat on a nomad

I'm at about a 6/10 with this one. Its not bad but could have used a bit more polish. Some of the levels seemed a bit too short and some of the boss fights were kinda lame. Juggernaut should have been awesome but instead he was a dinky, smallish guy who just charged at you.
I remember my mum and dad ordering this for me from a catalogue. Was looking forward to it.
They sent Captain America and the Avengers instead :/
Juggernaut, Sabretooth, and Apocalypse should have been massive and instead they had weak sprites. What was so great about the graphics because to me they were just alright but could have been done way better with a different developer. The helpers were a cool idea but some of them like Iceman and Arch Angel had very little animations. Rogue flew across the screen and did a punch I think ? That was the best one.
I'd consider Rogue 3rd. It's like this: Archangel(3 passes for damage)>Storm(will hit no matter what)>Rogue(good hit, but can easily miss)>Iceman(builds a bridge... To it's credit, I did find a way to bypass Sabretooth entirely with it back in the day).
Also, his metal wings don't flap, so the lack of animation isn't that off.
Yup I remember the wings not flapping and thinking that was kinda lame. Remember how Apocalypse is supposed to grow in size and he barely gets much bigger lol.
I mean, the actual comic book metal wings don't flap. They may now, now that often times the individual feather blades are drawn, but back then they didn't. He just kind of soared through the air.
On topic: Who do you figure is the best playable?

Hmm... come to think of it, if you play emulated, how do you get to the end?

I didn't think this game was that hard, though the difficulty curve is inconsistent. I just didn't really like anything about it. The level design feels kind of random at times, and the bosses are pretty lame. The graphics and sound are subpar. The playable characters are really unbalanced.
The sequel is much better IMO, with pretty tight level design, better characters and better use of their mutant abilities, and much better graphics and sound.
You just can't handle my jawusumness responces.
