    Default Sonic Music CD

    Hi,

    I started listened to Sonic Vocal music in 2004, and still like it. A lot.

    It's just excellent, and I love all the songs (Except maybe very rares exceptions). Even if I hate a song at my first listening, I always love it later. It has been the case with You Can Do Anything and Almost Dead.

    In my opinion, there's just one thing that I find sooo frustrating about Sonic music. The PRICE! I never seen in my life expensive CDs like that! Because theses are japanese CD, they just cost extremely expensive!

    The best exemple here is, I think, Lost and Found: 45$, 7 tracks! Completely crazy!

    Yes, I know the Japan is giving high shipping charges for survival reasons, but it's still so expensive!

    I don't have the money for this! It's just a CD, 45$ for that? Yes, I paid 45$ for a Simple Plan 8 tracks CD, but it's because i'm collecting these since I'm young... I'm not ready to pay 45$ for a Sonic CD, even if the music is god-damn-good!
    The price never goes under 30$, except a few exceptions:

    - True Blue;
    - Face to Faith;
    And Several Wills.

    Those cost about 12$. Very reasonable.

    Anyways, let's get to the facts.

    Do you know a place where we can get theses CD for cheap? With the shipping to Canada too.

    Thanks a lot!

    The Lost and Found disc has been out of print since SegaDirect closed last year, so the used price for them has risen since they were released. True Blue and Several Wills both had massive print runs, and I think Face to Faith is still in print, so these three will naturally be a little cheaper.

    (The Sonic Adventure 2 soundtrack had a massive print run, too - it's never hard to grab a sealed original copy for cheap.)

    If you can understand Japanese, Amazon Japan sells videogame stuff; but I've had nothing but good experiences with VGMWorld and Play-Asia. VGMDB is a reputable vgm swap & trade station, too.

    Ah, Ok.

    But I can't find any Cuts Unleashed anywhere! Even on eBay!

    And Amazon Japan, the price is reasonable, but the problem is the shipping charges. Automaticly, to Canada, it is about 30$ just of shipping for one CD.
    I have trust in Amazon, but I can't read Japanese, and I sure wouldn't be able to convince my parents to buy on a japanese-only site, even Amazon.

    The way to save money is to buy multiple CD at once, but yeah...
    I don't want to ruin myself!

    Thanks for your others sites propositions. I'll check.

    I probably own most of the CDs you're after, but they're not for sale.

    Elusive listed pretty much all the best places to buy legit VGM. You really don't need to know any Japanese to use Amazon Japan. Just search by the CD's catalog number and add to your cart. There's even an In English link on the right hand side of the site to help you out. But as you noticed, the downside for Amazon is the shipping cost. It's definitely best to order 5+ CDs from them if you're going to place an order, to balance out the initial shipping cost. When I order, I usually do around 10 CDs (not just me, I order with friends) and it works out great.

    I'd definitely recommend VGMdb's Marketplace too. I sell CDs there regularly and have bought from many users as well. CD Japan is another option as their shipping might be lower for you if you're only ordering one or two CDs at a time. You could also go the really expensive route and bid on Yahoo! Japan auctions using a middleman service, but we won't get into that unless (until) you're really desperate. If you're curious to see what's currently for auction on YJA as far as Sonic game music, check this link out.

    Also, I'm sure you're aware but it doesn't hurt mentioning.. stay away from eBay for video game music! If the price seems too good to be true, it's most likely a bootleg. There are some good sellers on there who sell legit CDs, you just need to know how to spot them.

    Well, it seems as though we're both in the same boat. All the tracks from Cuts Unleashed (besides the karaoke versions) have been re-released on True Blue & True Colours, if that's any consolation.

    Champ des Pins is a reputable (Japanese) eBay VGM seller I'd be happy to endorse, BTW. Never any trouble at all. I use RXMDX for import games on occasion, too.

    May as well post my VGMDB collection list, too

    It's nice, they show the back of the CD box, the Insert and others!

    I knew CD Japan, it's a bit expensive, but still less than Amazon JP. It could be an option.

    Ok. I haven't seen such low prices, except for these I mentionned before:
    - True Blue;
    - Face to Faith;
    - Severals Will;
    - Multi-Dimensional (Not interested in Instrumental).

    Well, it seems as though we're both in the same boat. All the tracks from Cuts Unleashed (besides the karaoke versions) have been re-released on True Blue & True Colours, if that's any consolation.
    Yes, I noticed. It's superb. However, there's only one True Colors on eBay for 45$, man! I guess it's because it's new!

    And for Sonic Adventure: Songs With Attitude, instead of using money for this extremely rare CD, 6 tracks, and so expensive (I'm not even sure if I'll be able to find one), I can just get Triple Threat (Expensive but like all others), it has all the Songs with Attitude tracks.
    I also think Lost and Found is a great buy because there's only one song of it on True Blue / Colors.

    I really hope they'll release an "Best of Sonic the Hedgehog 3", I guess the name will be "True Speed".
    Because I don't want to buy Planetary Pieces for 60$, just for Endless Possibilities and Dear my Friend! Same thing for Seven Rings in Hand: I don't want to buy it for Worth a Chance only. And Catch Me if You Can too...

    Anyways. I'll check as soon as I can for Play-Asia. Thanks!

    EDIT: Just checked Play-Asia. Simply awesome! Even better then I excepted! The only thing that I found sad is that many Sonic CD are back-ordered. Seven Rings in Hand, Planetary Pieces, Cuts Unleashed... But luckylli, the most importants are still there! Triple Threat and Lost and Found. And I can get both at an normal price, finally! It cost me just 5$ of shipping to Canada for both, for a total of 50$! Great price for CDs that has a value of 45 each!

    And I don't know why my parents will refuse to register and buy on Play-Asia. I'll explain:

    - When I was younger, I was searching for Triple Threat, I asked to my local Music-Books store if they knew places where I can get it. The first names they quote: Amazon, Play-Asia, GameStop. If they recommended Play-Asia, this is not crap!
    - In a certain sense, Play-Asia is even more securised than eBay, because they are professionnals, and everybody know them, like Amazon. In the case of eBay, it's generaly safe, but it still depend of the seller. The downside of Amazon is that it does not accept PayPal. That was the main reason why my parents were not sure of buying on it. But Play-Asia is pro work, AND accept Pay-Pal! I even checked at the website and it sounds extremely profesionnal. The website is offered in so many languanges, including the mine!

    It's simply too good to be true!

    I'll just need to see if returns are possible, better take precautions in case if something bad happen (I would be unlucky at all if this happen).

    Thanks again!

    Nothing "old" and with Sonic on it will ever be properly cheap, ever.

    Case in point.

    (Only Sonic OST-thing I have is this, a good part of which is horribly cringeinducing :/)

    What, 150$ for Sonic & Knuckles Soundtrack?!

    I own Sonic & Knuckles Collection on the PC, and I just need to pop it in any CD player, and the music will play.
    Same thing for Sonic CD and Sonic R.

    In the case of Sonic CD, I think it doesn't have You Can do Anything and Cosmic Eternity, but they are on True Blue and True Colors. No problem.

    This is the only Sonic OST I've really heard, haha.

    They call me Sonic, 'cause I am faster than sound, I keep 'em jumpin' around. Blue hedgehog Sonic, with incredible speed, I'm movin' my feet.

    DO DOOT DO DO DO DOOT DO DO DO DO DOOT DOOT DO DO DO DO DOOT DOOT

    I'M THE KING OF THE RING, COME HERE AND PLAY WITH ME, ME THE KING OF THE RING, BRINGIN' YOU THE ENERGY.

    It's sad that I know the lyrics and I've listened to the songs maybe two-three times each at the most.

    Well to be fair, they are the only lyrics - repeated over, and over, and over...
    Coincidentally they're also the exact cringeinducing bit I was referring to

    Good point - I've listened to the Sonic CD OST off my Mega CD disc before too. I used to wonder if it would work when I first got the game (on release) but was too scared because of that thing in the manual that said something like "WARNING: PLAYING THIS IN A REGULAR CD PLAYER MAY CAUSE DAMAGE TO EVERYTHING EVER!" Then I realised it was ridiculous lies.

    The only exception is on Sonic R Soundtrack, there's a Work it Out and Super Sonic Racing Remix, which are very good, but doesn't worth the price of the CD. Except of course if you can get the CD for like 5$, but we're dreaming. ^^

    ^^

    The tracks are in a strange order, but who cares. It plays, it's the important.

    Ah, just remember something, the PC tracks for Sonic 3 & Knuckles are a bit different than the originals. But anyways, I'm not listening to Sonic Instrumental, except a very few tracks, like Vengeance is Mine (Radical Highway)or Masters of the Desert (Egg Golem).

    To be honest, I do not own any Sonic CD, because of the high price. I'm listening to them on my computer. But Sega is so good, and I found it frustrating that I don't have any CD to support them! It's the only group that I'm illegal with them! That's why I'm asking for websites to buy cheap; I want this to change.

    The (obscenely-overpriced!) Sonic & Knuckles / Sonic the Hedgehog 3 disc isn't actually the game's soundtrack. It's actually only Sonic & Knuckles tracks, remixed for a more electronic-synth sound.

    Sonic CD - the PAL and Japanese games, anyway - definitely have YCDA and Cosmic Eternity, they're the last two tracks (34 & 35) on the disc.

    Not really. It's a hold-over from old old old old CD player units that didn't recognise data tracks, and would attempt to play them as audio; like putting a Commodore 64 cassette into a Walkman and hitting Play.
