    Default Asian carts in

Anyone know anything about a Japanese/Asian Mega Drive game in a Genesis cart? Did SOJ do this towards the end of the Genesis' life?

    Well, I don't see a Sega logo anywhere, so I can't imagine it's legitimate.

Looks more like a transplant, though the Japanese game won't play unless its set to ntsc/jap

maybe the person who did the transplant had a modded Genesis but not an import cart?

i'm pretty sure that's a fake cartridge. in first place, asian ones have ntsc covers but jap shape, this (as it says) have pal/ntsc shape and asian (chinese i guess) text on cover.

then, most important, look closer at the cartridge's shape:

on the left: a random original cartridge pic, on the right: auction pic.

the cover print us MUCH taller than supposed to be, and (it's hardly noticeable in that pic) it's slightly wider too.

You're not missing out. As far as I can tell, the US version and JP version are identical.

If you want a real treasure, you might consider picking up the JP version of Ecco 1. There are a few major differences present there, and apart from the Sega CD version, it may be the most complete version of the game around. If you don't mind missing out on three word sentences, you could always download the game script from somewhere like Caverns of Hope if you don't know the story already as well.

(It came out after the US version, and it's one of the rare times I would personally recommend buying a JP game over US. It wouldn't be region locked either, I don't think.)
