Ben Shinobi http://benjamin.bouloch.free.fr/replays.htm can finish it on very hard without shuriken as well. In the replay he uses magic and the dog. Also he loses some lives.

Loved the game too when it came out. One of my friends owned it and I rented it a couple of times.

All of the shinobi games on the genesis are great. I don't know how I'd rank them, however.

Are you playing on an emulator or on a console? Do you have a capture card or any other way to digitise video if the latter?

Daminmacejin, why do you post so many topics on Shadow Dancer? How have you stayed *so* obsessed with it for so long that you make yourself regularly put up topics here and GameFAQs? You need to broaden your horizons, man, and play something else! (Or get a girlfriend!) ^_~

I remember when Shadow Dancer was released,
I had high hopes for it since I loved Revenge of
Shinobi and the whole dog thing reminded me of
Snake Eyes.

While it's a good game, I too feel that Shinobi III
delivered better in the sequel department.

I still love the music and level design of the first one.

I used to be able to beat this on hardest difficulty with out shurikens, I did use the dog, and occasionally magic. I'd have to play this every day to get to that level of badassery again, though.

the movies that samudra linked where awesome,so was ben shinobi so is Shinobi,it scertainly disserves a spot in the game top 100.Yuzo putted some to awesome music in the game(shinobi 1),even spidey is involved in that game,Thats why marvel s involved with that game.just way awesome.the only ninja game i ever finished with loosing 2 lives and on very hard was sengoku 3 sore there was no en in that game.master stuff shinobi,made the genesis rule.
