If I'm using an actual Genesis I'll use the Sega Cd's audio outs. Most of the time I use an X'eye with a SCART cable.

I have added additional audios outs to my machines... DIN5 generally, for direct connection to my HiFi

I use the headphone jack for stereo audio from my model 1, and I use the RCA jacks from my CCAM-modded model 2.

Ooops. My mind had suppressed the existence of model II :P.

But seriously, I've seen people mod their model Is for RCA jacks.

I modded my Genesis 1 to have AV jacks because I can never find the stupid headphone-RCA adapter or the Genesis 1 RCA cable, and the mod is very easy. I tried to do the same with a Model 2, but I couldn't figure out where to connect the video line.

I use the headphone jack, which is connected to a 70s Kenwood Amp that drives a nice
pair of big shelf speakers =)

Stereo amps with wooden decorations on the sides and massive metal plates on the front

    Missing some vote options there.

I have a special A/V cable that has has a addition headphone plug that plugs into the headphone jack and feeds the sound into the Right/left audio outs. Got it years ago before the model 2 existed. That said I would guess you could get similar results from something like this:
    http://lappygear.com/products/6ft-3....x-2-Cable.html

Computer speakers can work well too, but the good ones would need it's own power

I use the headphone jack with the sega CD. (but don't bother with the mixing cable as there's little point unless you like the added analog filtering)

You also left off one option:
Audio from a Model 2 Sega CD with a model 2 Genesis. (it mixes internally and has full quality audio for the CD portion and improves the model 2's sound slightly too -varies by model too)

I have a model 1. I know I'm capable of getting "stereo" from the headphone jack but I just don't mind the mono. Although I have to say I love the stereo for SNES.

I think you might have made a mistake. You should be at the Nintendo forums.

All jokes aside, give it a chance, you might be pleasantly surprised!

The best experiences I've had is with a decent pair of headphones. (both sound quality in general and stereo effects)

I've made the experience, that the mono output of my HDG model 1 sounds more
muffled and distorted than the headphone jack. Even if you don't care much for stereo
sound, give it a try, you might notice an overall improvement of sound quality.

I have a model 2 genesis and Sega CD 2. If I use stereo audio cables with the RCA out on the back of the CD, will that make the CD's and Genesis' sound true stereo? Does it make a big difference over mono?

No, it's unbiased analysis. The only fanboyism is people who claim that Hyperstone Heist and Bloodlines are actually as good as their SNES counterparts.
