It has taken a long time, but I finally made a video tour of Arcade UFO.

The games looks really nice.
The actual place looks kind of like someone just randomly put arcade machines in a house
Looks badass to me... that shooter the girl is playing looks insane.
Jammin Breakbeat track in the background![]()
LOL, that's a dude. That's D14BL0.
The track is Spectre by the BCJ off the Ghost in the Shell Playstation 1 soundtrack.
Where's Outrun, Space Harrier, Virtua Racing, and Afterburner?

I'm impressed with what they have, but if it doesn't have retro games, it wouldn't be worth it to me. As much as I love arcades, I think it's about time they died. I mean, it didn't look too populated in the vid. They won't make a comeback unless they make at least one game that's more advanced technologically than console games and is actually worth playing. That's why arcades were so popular in the 80s and early 90s, but it all went out the window with memory cards, and later, online play. At this point, it's cheaper and more efficient to go to LANs.
^rest assured, they get plenty of business. This was around 7pm. The crowds usually arrive later. UFO stays open until about 2 or 4am and hard core fighting game fans drive from cities away to play on the weekends. That is the group that keeps this place alive. People want to play against someone in real time, not over a shaky internet connection.
It may not be a retro style arcade, but they have a solid selection of newer arcade games that most people outside of Tokyo will never have the chance to play.
No, I mean, people play fighting games, hell most any games, at LANs. And there, you don't have to insert 50 cents every time you want to play Tekken. Plus, there, you're allowed to use any stick/controller you want- you're not restricted to the machine, and you can have multiple setups of whatever game you want. Much more freedom than at an arcade. That being said, I am glad it's staying in business, I'm just afraid for its future.
ufo is awsome, I have been thier a few times, far as I know its the only real arcade left in town since lafun and einsteins went mia. This place gets packed at night!! As for LAN its not the same. I went to Tek Republic here in austin a few times and its not for me, plus it reeks of fart and nachos. Plus LAN places are always so fucking lame inside while a arcade is usually bumping on the inside.
I'm also quite impressed. Also, loved that Giga Wing montage there nearing the end.![]()
Here is that guy's full play on the DJ MAX Technika machine.
