I've got mine stashed away along with a Model 2 mint in box.
For years i've been using one of the Model 1 or 2 consoles I got cheap.
Considering the Genesis was the first & brand new video game system that I bought with my own money, its got a lot of sentimental value plus it's one of my favorite gaming systems.
For years I keep thinking how cool it must have been to be an adult during the early '80's where you were working and could buy new game systems without having to beg your parents to death! There's gotta be a ton of middle-aged people out there who have collections of original systems they bought during those late '70's and 80's - the spectrum of atari systems, colecovisions, intellivisions, vectrex, and all the original home computers (apple, atari, commodore). What a great hobby!
I still have my model 2 from '92. It's still set up in my entertainment room, along with my model 2 CD and launch 32X. It's what I use for 32X/Gen testing, while I use the CDX for Gen/SMS testing (I needed to take the 32X off one of the systems for testing the SMS functions of the NeoMyth, so I chose the CDX).
Still have my first Model 2...
I still have my Genesis Nomad that I purchased in 95 I believe?
My model 1 Genny and model 1 CD a friend of mine still has, I traded it to him ages ago, I have thought about asking for it back, or buying it back from him. I got those on Christmas of 89 and 92 I believe. Still has my name written on the metal plate between the two consoles.

Still have my original M2 VA0 Genesis from 1997. But my main unit is a M2 VA3.

So far, it looks like I have the oldest remaining Genesis from November of 1989, and the box still has the price tag of $189.95. Coop comes in a close 2nd with a Christmas of '89 purchase.
Mine died with alcohol in 1998Never seen it again, though i could have repaired it if i had it.
I do. Got my in X-mas '89 and I still play it.
I'm surprised Redifer hasn't chimed in yet.
I still have my "high definition graphics model 1 sega genesis" that I bought in...91? (Its not boxed but the console is in very good condition).
Also a few time ago I did the s-video mod in it and I play it in a LCD TV and looks like a dream (there is not exists rgb here).
In the 90's I sold my first sega master system and my snes. Later, some years ago, I bought again a new master system for nostalgic reasons.
But I never wished to sell my first and only one sega genesis. Was the right thing to do. And the smartest also. The sega genesis and the dreamcast are my favorites consoles ^.^
hay que tomar el control del descontrol.
Well, I still have my original Genesis that I bought at Toys R Us back in September 1989, along with several of the launch games. Soon after, I also picked up another control pad, the Power Base Converter, and the composite video cable. That was a wonderful time for console gaming, imo.
I used to want the PBC, but then I scrounged up a Master System instead. I wish I had that box.
I do have the box and everything for my model 1 in rather good shape. The original controller is a little off though. I should open it up and have a look.
