Haha. It does indeed. But I've had 15 years to learn to live with it. . Also, since I haven't lived with my parents for almost 10 years now, the concept is irrelevant by now, lol. Still, it hurts a bit everytime my mother, father, grandmother, sisters or, even, brother refer to my Sega Genesis as a "nintendo." Then again, my older sister doesn't know that the Wii is a video game system, and everyone else thinks "nintendo" is not just a brand, but the noun/verb/adjective/adverb signifying everything video-game-related . I just laugh inside and move on with other topics. I can accept I'm the only one in my family (or even friends) who enjoys gaming (or should I say, "nintendoing").

well in my contry its not nintendo is playstation, realy wtf? i even eard people saying that i have many playstations, even though i dont own even one. its a sad world.

Oh and yeah, my country used to be and amazing Sega stronghold, we even had a so called "Special Waranty", you can look for "Sega in Portugal" and you'l see.

hahaha, i know what you mean. in here, everything game-related is generalized as playstation than nintendo, wich is even more annoying. The funny thing is people who feel embaracced to show they're video game addicted, when talking with people says "my playstation" but they're actually talking of xbox or wii as example. Like a PS is somewhat cooler and better....

i remember when i was 12, at school some teacher given us some kind of poll to compile about our freetime, interests, and crap like that.
at the line "how much time you spend playing playstations?" i've deleted it and i wrote "I play DreamCast and Mega Drive. playstation sucks, it's not a generic word associated to videogames, is a specific brand, a bad brand. Sony is awful, Se.Ga. is much better" Yeah, i was a HUGE, angry Sega's fanboy

Once a customer came and asked for a PS3 remote. Naturally, I took him to the PS3 Blu-ray remote, and looked at me like I was nuts. It turned out he meant a PS3 controller. Which I could understand coming from someone who didn't play games, not a TEENAGER

considering that most people associate nintendo as like the only retro console all the game shops where i live only sell sega in the retro sections which is nice to see, however you may see the odd ps1 game its been years since ive seen a nintendo cart for sale in a shop

I think they might respond more to Atari as a retro thing given how significant that was... depending on the exact age group your parents are in.

In my case, my parents pretty much know enough about all the consoles anyway, so that kind of thing would never be an issue. (last game I played with my mom was 2 player M. Pac Man on the Genesis, and before that it was probably Combat on the VCS a couple months back)

Besides, there's a lot more than just games to my collections/hobbies/interests. (though it's my most active one currently)

That's kinda funny. My parents know that I'm Sega to the core, so there's no way they'd make a mistake like that.
