I wholeheartedly agree with the Wondermega Model 1 looking the best, and within that the Sega version over the JVC version.
I personally think that is has some of the best industrial design of the time period, and is something I always come back to as an example of the best console design. I've been keeping my eyes peeled for one for a long time, but the last one that came up on eBay complete ended at around $500, more than I could really afford at the time. I'd probably have better luck through YJA but it still wouldn't be cheap.
On the note of the look of the X'Eye, I don't know what they were thinking. They took the design of the Wondermega 2 which had wireless controllers built in, removed the wireless and extras, then released that abortion to the US probably hoping we'd still buy it. That said, I do own two of them.![]()
I agree that the original Wondermega is one of the most beautiful things ever made. The idiot(s) who decided it wasn't good enough for US shores needs to be slapped.
One thing I'll give the X'Eye, unrelated to the question of its aesthetic value, is that they put in that 9-pin output connector on it.
My first thought was the Saturn as well, but the SMS is definately better. Thinking about it more, I want to say the ZX Spectrum or original Master System.
Do old computers count?

How about this beauty?

You just can't handle my jawusumness responces.
Yup, the NeoGeo certainly IS one sexy machine
What about the original PC-Engine? That one is quite easy on the eyes as well.
I'd say the NEO GEO AES is the best looking cart based system, and the US black model 2 Sega Saturn is the best looking CD based console. the best looking ad-on for a console has to be the Sega CD model 1!
My top five:
Turbo Duo
Genesis 3 (seriously)
Dreamcast
Atari Jaguar (seriously)
N64 (seriously)
Edit: Ooops, forgot this was retro. Removed PS3, inserted N64.
