    Default HALO for Atari 2600

I have the rom, want the cart, but am also wondering why there isn't a Genesis version of it out there anywhere. I am not a programmer but would love to see one.

HERE is more information. If you like the 2600, you'll love a Genesis version, I know I would!

I can see Gain Ground hacked into a Halo lookalike.

You can play it online here.

What is this an original homebrew game or a hack?

Looks cool either way; thanks for sharing!

EDIT: Just played a little, great game, but I'm stuck.

I got the key, but I don't know what to do with it!

I think it's all original, but it bears a resemblance to Berzerk a lot, and has a map like Adventure might.

I don't know what to do with the key, either. I just keep on going. Might be just points.

It's hilarious how quickly this is getting circulated. It looks exactly like E.T. on 2600! I owned and enjoyed that game, but if you listen to modern nonsense about it the game stunk to no end and never sold. I love seeing popular myths busted.

I doubt I would be listened to, but I have asked for a 7800 version already that uses a paddle to change the direction you fire and that it be a bit more scrolling. Not that this one isn's a lot of fun, it's great as it is.

Oh, and are you seriously comparing this to E.T.? I think you meant the graphics on it.

It seems that anything Halo related gets spread like wildfire everywhere.

Pretty much goes to show us what demographic is making up the majority of Internet Forum posts these days.

I'd say that the graphics struck me as E.T. like right off, but the way the levels scroll does too. Obviously E.T., the character himself, didn't have guns though. That would be the biggest gameplay difference. Oh, and the Spartan doesn't get M&Ms or apparently fall into pits, that's a difference too.

and the game was properly playtested, and had more than six weeks of development time

btw, you can now order a cart at atariage for 25 dollars shipped. this will be a limited release though, al opens and closes the atariage store at random times these days.

Just a little while ago the preorders closed, but I got on the list for the next run. Sucks but those are the times.

I wonder if it will have a box and manual? I might have to make my own, just to have it. Bragging rights

Y'know, I am a bit surprised there is only the one thread here for this and has so few replies. It's a pretty fun game, and made a huge splash all over afaik, being covered in google and yahoo news.

Now I wish someone would take a game and hack it into a Halo lookalike for the Genesis. I would but I am no good as a programmer (beyond Basic).

There are two choices for a box now:

Order one from the Atariage store that you pay for but is ready made

    or...

Use the homebrewed one that is on Atariage, and you have to make your own and you do all the printing and stuff. Same goes for the manual.

Personally I am torn; the collector in me says buy the "official" one but the arts n crafts instinct kicks in and tells me to make my own. But at least there is a choice.

I also want to support Albert and the Atariage store, as he brings great stuff to gamers and is a generally great guy all-round. See? Torn!

Here are the two links for the boxes,

    http://www.atariage.com/forums/topic...nual-template/

These guys are NOT competing with each other, and it's good to have a choice. I can vouch for Albert, it's worth every penny to have a ready made box and not risk all the ink in our super-expensive inkjet printers if you screw it up, but it's also great to have a choice to DIY too.
