    Sonic 2 LD

Sonic 2 for Genesis, on the Master System!
How finished is that? The last time I saw it it was hardly done, all they had was a bit of Emerald Hill zone and not much more. Was it ever completed?

How many of these "X character in Sonic 1" hacks are there? I didn't even know about the Tails one.

    Here's what I know of:

    - Knuckles in Sonic 1
    - Tails in Sonic 1
    - Stella the Cat in Sonic 1
    - Sally Acorn in Sonic 1
    - Amy in Sonic 1
    - Vector the Crocodile in Sonic 1

    Did I miss any?

Sonic hacks have become really rare nowadays, which is a shame.

The only one I've truly enjoyed is this one, "Robotnik's Creature Capture":

I can see why, making hacks doesn't really pay the bills these days.

....wow this sonic hack seriously rocks!

Uhhhhh... I don't know where you normally look for Sonic hacks, but if you think there aren't many these days, you're looking in the wrong place! Just go over to SonicRetro and check out all the Sonic hacks. Hell, they have a contest every year on Sonic hacks, with anywhere between a dozen and two dozen entries every time!

One of the more interesting hacks I'm watching right now is Sonic 1 Color Contrast.

If you did then it should be in the following list : http://info.sonicretro.org/Category:..._modifications

Personally I wish they'd take a stab at remaking the game gear games Sonic Chaos and Sonic Triple Trouble.

To me those are "real" Sonic games, and its a travesty that they never got 16 bit versions.

    Same with Sonic Drift 1 and 2, Street Racer came close but it just wasn't Sonic. ;_;

Maybe I'm wrong then. It sure feels like the hacking scene has grinded to a halt, at least to me it does, at times. I just wish we'd hear something about Megamix or S Factor, been years since I've seen anything on those.

Some great projects die but other new ones are born from the ashes?

Except Megamix isn't dead, they are just being really secretive about it.

Exactly. If all you do is periodically check a couple older hacks for updates, you might feel that the Sonic hack scene is dead, but there are tons of NEW hacks every year... granted, most aren't that great, but that's the way it is with everything, not just Sonic hacks.

As a big Sonic 2 fan I definitely need to give a look at Sonic 2 Long Version... my flash cart is ready!

Well my street fighter 2 arcade hack gets randomly updated with new stuffs (randomly being when I feel like it, which is fairly random). I imagine other romhackers work the same way. Unless you're willing to pay the romhacker progress should be just whenever.
