    NES transparent carts

    Hi

I did a quick search and didn't come up with anything too useful.

Basicaly I am looking for a MD cart that is transparent/translucent/clear/frosted or something.

I want something nice to put the everdrive in that will let light through when I put some purple LEDs inside

I was thinking about something like this:

    middle right

I don't think there was ever a transparent/translucent Genesis or Mega Drive game. If there was, color me surprised because it would have to be something really obscure.

Those Famicom games look really tempting though... They're like funny looking Master System carts. I love how they're all in different, appropriate colors.

well, would a SMS cart fit an everdrive?

would there be any other manufacture of carts that would fit that isn't necessarily sega?

if there isn't, do you guys think it would be hard/dangerous to use something like casting resin w/ dye then sanded/polished? it would be tricky though when it comes to SD/USB ports

    :S

I'd love to see one. Sadly, as far as I know, nothing of the sort was officially relased .

Well Action 52 was clear on the NES, but I am not so sure about the Sega Genesis version.

What if you cut the front of an original cartridge, then superglue a clear piece over that? Just where the label would go on the front. And then etch the Everdrive name into the clear plastic. That would look pretty kickass!

I can honestly say in all my years of MD collecting I have never seen or heard about any transparent carts, so i'd say you'd have to make one .

I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard to do, I don't really know much about forming plastic, but I guess you make a mold and heat plastic over it/push it into heated plastic? I'm sure it would be do-able with a bit of reading up on the subject and a few practise runs.

    Good luck .

Well, more specificaly it would need to be the shape of the Japanese size cart... which I don't have.

Wouldn't there be any clear ones of that type?

Also just wondering if someone could post the dimensions? What I will probably do is make a block of casting resin with everdrive inside then file/cut to shape then finialy sand down to 2000 grit and plastic polish...

I've got all the gear, just don't know the size of the cart >_<

I have Action 52 on Genesis. It's solid black.

No offense, but that's the craziest fucking thing I have ever heard. You are going to cast resin around the Everdrive board and then file it into shape?

I'm trying to think of reasons why that won't work, but I can't. God speed you crazy man.

The craziest part is getting a nice sliding fit for the cart it self and the pause button and the SD card.

I've had abit of experience building a breach loading air cannon... that seal had to be air tight. the trick I used was a plastic sleave for A4 paper. it was about 0.1mm... so I will wrap those important bits in glad wrap. and I will put electrical grease on the SD connectors. I will also tape up the cart connectors and maybe use styrafoam to get the hugging shape thats needed.

However it would be easier to mod an existing clear cat but I already have the materials to do it... So I guess I will post pics and let you guys know how its going when I get my everdrive in the mail

I hope you have a pressure pot otherwise you will have air in your cast!

I was just gonna get most of the bubbles out by wetting the everdrive with the resin first with a brush... nice and thinck... then I would put it in a vacuum chamber to get the rest out.

I wont be able to do this for a while though...
