That seems like a very long way around. Surely, it would be a lot easier to take an epoxy mold of a cart and press molten plastic into it? Plus you would be able to make more than one with the molds, maybe sell them on to other everdrive owners.
EDIT: So after a bit of research, I'd say building an injection moulder wouldn't be too hard, in fact the only awkward part is getting the heater right as it has to reach between 300-500 degrees F. Moldings are a bit arsey if you want long lasting ones as you need aluminium for a decent lifespan which would need CNC milling from a solid block ideally, but you can use an epoxy/aluminium mixtureto make a mold for 50-100 presses. Big benefits of making an injection moulder would be interchangeable molds, once you have the molds in stock you can make whatever you need for your own use, or maybe for profit. I'm sure there would be a market out there for new carts and stuff.
EDIT 2: A bit more research and Vacuum forming looks like the cheapest option by far. Forming tables and molds seem pretty damn simple to make and you can buy 1-2mm thick A4 sized sheets (see-through or coloured) for around £2 a sheet. Curing the pieces seems to be the only setback, apparently prone to air bubbles if left to dry naturally.

Actualy, I was thinking about this while I sleep, And I think what I will do is get a crappy jap cart and chop the whole top off and just use the part that shrouds the pins and keeps it straight in the slot. that allows me to cast around that... benifit being that it doesn't need to be transparent
makes for less screwing around.
I wouldn't really want to make a batch though... That would require me to buy a heap of everdrive carts and the work polishing them all up would be too much...
so I'll probably just write a guide with pics so the average joe blow can do it too.
Did this ever materialize?

im still waiting for my jap cart to mould from, from the dude from solaris who does the XRGB-3s
I have the crystal clear resin ready to go... still not sure if i should get some dye too... maybe maybe not... not sure...
So yeah, I ordered an xrgb-3 unit from him, came in about a week, took him like 2 or 3 weeks to send my new MD from japan... but forgot... said he'd make up for it by sending a free game... which still hasn't arrived or replied to my emails...
not happy T_T
so i will strip the remaining glue from the stickers I saved from my perfect copy of daimakaimura...
after that i will make a plater mold of each side of the cart...
after that I will try my hand at casting some resin.
Ill make a big batch for a few to have... hopefully they turn out nice
do you guys think i should die the plastic or leave it clear?
