Favorite Genesis game?

Gunstar Heroes is growing on me, but some of the levels are too long, I got killed by Seven Force in space and gave up because that level takes ages to complete.

That shooter level isn't long though, and it has a lot of interesting moments. You can also cut short the second meeting with Timeron by just killing him instead of bothering to dodge the shots. The long, pain in the butt level for me is that fifth level run once you've beaten the four gem holders. It's just a repetitive, non-stop left-to-run gauntlet that takes way too long to finish.

I just recently received a Genesis and so far I gotta say Streets Of Rage has been my favorite.

This one isn't easy, but Streets of Rage 2 and ToeJam & Earl Panic on Funkotron are probably tied for first for me.

Replay value wise, Streets of Rage 2 no contest. Nostalgia wise, they are both tied.

Landstalker

Zelda II was one of my favorite NES games, and the Genesis was sorely lacking a good Action-RPG.
Landstalker was just perfect in so many ways (including the challenging isometric jumps in some area).

Here's a story I've told before, and it will always be worth repeating:
in 2004(ish) I had a housemate who grew up on Nintendo, at the time he wasn't an active gamer at all. I had a Genesis hooked up to the living room TV along with a dozen games or so laying around. He didn't have any interest in my games, but then he lost his job.
I came home from work one day and there he was almost to the end of Landstalker. Dude got hooked and couldn't put it down. Played through the whole thing on a standard 3-button pad too. That old complaint about the diagonal controls is just a sorry excuse for lame-ass gamers. I always prefer to play it with a joystick, but the game is perfectly controllable with a d-pad.
We had Gamecube, X-Box, PS2, Saturn, Dreamcast, SNES, and Genesis in the house and he barely or rarely showed interest in any of them, yet Landstalker had him hooked like crack cocaine.

For me even a top 20 favourite megadrive/genesis is nearly impossible, however if I get sentimental I´ll go with the first Sonic, first ever game I played for the megadrive, Christmas present in 1992...wait, I´m getting sentimental: Sonic it is!

This is a sin, you just CANT pick just one "favorite" genesis game heck, even a top 20, our beloved genesis has TONS of great games.

Very tough choice, it's probably Streets of Rage 2. SoR 2 is pretty much perfect. Shinobi 3, Ristar, Gunstar Heroes and Sonic 3&K come close.
