A toss-up between "Ghouls 'N Ghosts" (owned four copies of it within a five-year period), "Streets of Rage 2" and "Sonic 3 & Knuckles" TBH. I know all three games like the back of my hand.

It's good to know someone else appreciates the Genesis Ghouls 'N Ghosts lol.

In an interview Tokuro Fujiwara, who developed the game, said Yuji Naka's Genesis port was so close to the original (gameplay-wise) that it even reproduced the arcade's bugs, which was something that bugged him (no pun intended).

It's my port of choice because I like the Genny's rendition of the soundtrack better. I just played it through again two days ago on emu as a farewell to my 11 year-old PC, which I donated to the Salvation Army.

Hey, let's count how commonly games are people's #1 favorite. I only counted when people unequivocally said one game was their favorite.

    Streets of Rage 2: 6 (!!)
    Sonic 3 & Knuckles: 3
    Shinobi 3: 3
    Phantasy Star IV: 2
    Beyond Oasis: 2
    Sonic 1: 2
    Panorama Cotton: 1
    Gunstar Heroes: 1
    Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3: 1
    Streets of Rage: 1
    General Chaos: 1
    Earthworm Jim 2: 1
    Landstalker: 2
    Rastan Saga 2: 1
NFL Football 94 starring Joe Montana: 1
    Revenge of Shinobi: 1
    Jungle Strike: 1

This is quite an interesting group of titles that shows how varied the system's library is. I'm kind of surprised that nobody has named Sonic 2 as their #1 favorite, although some said it was their favorite Sonic game.
It may no longer be the `90s, but there is still time for Klax.

Hey you forgot to include me! You need to put another vote for "Revenge of Shinobi"!

That's actually kind of beautiful, sort of a swan song, and 11 years is a hell of a run.

^Exactly what I was thinking as I read this list; nobody's mentioned Sonic 2 yet! Good eyes, tim333 .

Yep. Despite most people's opinion on emulation, discovering them on that PC back in 2002 has made me into a more skilled, experienced gamer with a greater appreciation for classic gaming, especially when it comes to the Genesis. I've pretty much skipped out on the past two console generations because I've been too busy/satisfied with playing 8,16, and 32-Bit games. Thanks Dell Dimension 4400! *heavily sighs*

On-topic, somebody picked "Rastan Saga II"? Why? Even the original coin-op sucked IMO!

Sounds a lot like my sister (she's only 1 year older than you). I banned her from using my snes after she almost broke it. When my mom got a powerful enough PC I loaded it up with a nes / snes emulator and a bunch of classic roms (it's missing a lot and I didn't know genesis games back then). She played through a lot of classic snes rpgs, she couldn't get the sound working so she cleared everything with no sound haha.

Street Fighter II': Special Champion Edition. I've played that more than any other Genesis cart I own, and while I'm tempted to name something cool and exclusive to the console, anything else would be a lie in my #1 spot. Hell, I feel like firing it up for a quick bout right now!

my genesis games of all time:

Sonic the Hedgehog - yes, nothing can beat the original to me
DecapAttack - bought it new when it was released and loved it to death ever since
D&D Warriors of the Eternal Sun - My second favorite console D&D game of all time (after Order of the Griffon)

Who doesn't? Its a good port of a great game and has aged well over time imo.
