    Nope, that one's from a flash game made by a Chinese fan. It plays somewhat similarly.

    Aww, I was hoping it was some badass homebrew I hadn't heard of or something.

    We need Metal Slug HD, in 2D. Not going to happen anytime soon though.

    if there is a term for a style that is a modern take of world war ii aesthetics, that would be metal slug

    Why? Metal Slug still looks pretty damn good these days.

    This is true. I've been playing some MS1 and X lately, visuals are still great.

    Dieselpunk is the equivalent of steampunk based on the period from the 20's to WW2.

    But I always thought Metal Slug was more reminiscent of Korea and Vietnam. That time period is called atompunk, but atompunk is usually more about the Cold War, communism, McCarthyism, nuclear technology, and stuff like that.

    Or maybe, just maybe, the artists behind MS decided to come up with their own style, inspired from various schools of design? :P
