I believe I paid $250.00 US for Snow Bros (complete and mint/like new). Slap Fight MD, I believe, cost me about $200.00 US (also complete and mint/like new).
HahaI remember seeing Batman for sale from the mail order advertisements in the back pages of EGM. They hyped that game up pretty much too. I guess Batman was a hot property back then and the fact that the Mega Drive version was an original game made it a premium import.
As for PSIV, I was so pissed at Sega for their cheap cardboard boxes and photocopy quality manuals that I refused to buy any of the later Genesis releases. $100 for PSIV was just a further slap in the face.
Sometime after the Saturn came out I stumbled upon a sealed PSIV at KB Toys for just $15. PSIV was the most incredible bargain bin game I've ever purchased, that's for sure!
As for most expensive 16-bit Sega game I've bought?
It would probably be Phantasy Star 2. iirc it was $74.99 brand new when I finally found a copy available weeks after is was officially released. PSII was sold out for quite some time at all the stores around.
Next most expensive used games would be (all complete)
Twinkle Tale for $60 back in '05. That was a cheap price for then even.
Yu Yu Hakusho Makyou Toitsusen for $60+ (don't remember exactly) also back in '05. It typically sold for $80-100 back then. Mine has a slightly damaged box.
And MUSHA Aleste for $40 back in '04. That was also a good price. The label is peeling though.
Not really, considering the parts probably cost a few $, and the thing itself is totally worthless to collectors. Yawn...
Anyway. I paid the most (by far!) for Panorama Cotton (with the teacup). I think around £120 - perhaps with shipping on top from Japan, but I forget. :l
Also:
Gouketsuji Ichizoku - just under £50, after shipping + ~£20 customs fees (screw you, Play Asia! In the nostrils! :P)
Spot goes to Hollywood (the French version, sealed, with the pogs) - £45 :/
Yuu Yuu Hakusho Makyou Toitsusen - £40-something
Super Bubble Bobble (Chinese, boxed) - £40
Don't know why I make these lists. :P
150 euro for snowbrothers
and 140 gulden that s 60 euro s now for asterix on the mastersystem birthday money was i was little same go s for ghostbusters on the mastersystem
Mega Man: The Wily Wars, I about $95 for that game. Complete in PAL, of course. No repro. However, I'm going to sell it soon for $160.
That must have been $70 plus tax for Revenge of Shinobi revision 1, which I bought new in 1989. I had balked at that price for Phantasy Star and Miracle Warriors for the SMS for years, but spent it instantly on Revenge of Shinobi.
In fact, I think the most I have ever spent on a single game is around $110 for a well known "rare" PCE CD game.
I paid $20 for a very pretty, minty and complete Streets of Rage 2 from a local game store.
I've really never understood the price of SOR3, it is'nt in the slightest bit rare but still commands around £40 all day long. I still haven't bought a complete copy as I refuse to pay more than a fiver for it, cart only will do for now.
My most expensive will be either T-mek or Primal Rage for 32X, paid £1500 for the pair. Can't remember now but I think T-Mek was more expensive, one was £800 the other £600. WCS2 for £751 too. I don't have a problem spending large amounts of money on games, I spent less on my current car.

why do so many of you use Ebay and not Amazon? I've found time and time again the number of times you save money versus lose money on a bid is totally imbalanced. Plus I just find Amazon more user friendly.
I'm not too big on eBay either but sometimes you can find good deals if you're persistent enough. Amazon's good but I don't like that they don't have pics. I remember buying a couple of games in "good" condition on Amazon and they both had ripped labels (former rentals).
Alien Solider was the most expensive one at around 150 dollars, though that was given to me as a present.
Chaotix: 120 euros
Kolibri: 80 euros
Alien Soldier: 46 euros
SOR3: 40 euros
ThunderForce III: 30 euros

The most expensive Genesis titles I have purchased are:
- Dragon's Lair (Unreleased prototype) for $850
- Swamp Thing (unreleased prototype) for $530
- MUSHA (prototype which I have since sold) for $250
Swamp Thing was advertised as complete, but it turns out that it's just a single level. It's too bad too as it was shaping up to be a great game.
Dragon's Lair appears to be complete, but I haven;t been able to play through it yet. The game is hard! When I dump it, my friend Hybrid will whip up some GG codes and make the play through process easier. By the looks of it, the game appears to be complete. If not it's pretty far along.
I didn't notice any differences in the MUSHA prototype, but I sold it before I was capable of dumping Genesis titles. I guess I'll never know.
Edit to add: The most money I've ever spent on a single game would be $2,600+ on Chuck Yeager for the NES (one of a kind prototype). I've spent $1k+ on five or so occasions on NES prototype stuff.
