    Default Best/Memorable 3DO games

I'm picking up a 3DO from mck here on the forums. I've wanted one ever since I was 12 or 13, my cousin had one at his house with a Star Wars game and a fighting game that ripped off Mortal Kombat. I remember being wowed by the graphics at the time, and the Star Wars game was actually pretty fun. The fighting game was alright in 2 player, but I think single player sucked. Now, I read about the system in mags, and watched its death, but always wanted one in my collection, but never found one in the wild. Finally, one came up in the Bazaar here for a good price so I am snagging it.

So, what are the best titles, and what are the titles that maybe aren't so good, but memorable or good for a laugh? I got no prob using "backups" for a more expensive title. But mostly I'll pick up what I can from Amazon/Gamegavel/eBay. So, post away!

Gex is apparently a really good platformer.

Of course there's also Plumber's Don't Wear Ties. It's certainly worth the 50 cent price of a CD-R.

Return Fire is a fun game if you're just looking to cause some chaos. It has a killer soundtrack as well. You'd be doing yourself a favor to pick this up.

Killing Time is a mixed bag. It's a horror themed first person shooter with some nice graphics and atmosphere, but the hit detection is horrendous and can cause a lot of frustration. It's still fun to play here and there, but you'll likely be turning in a fit of rage a few times.

Alone in the Dark, Road Rash, D, Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo are some other games I got a lot of enjoyment out of, though I'm sure not everyone is crazy about D.

Funny you should put this post up as today for the first time I setup freedo on my PC and had a look at some of the games for the 3DO.

I was stunned at the quality of Another World & Cannon Fodder as they were far better on 3DO

I also tried Gex which was very good and Need For Speed also good.

All in all i have been impressed with the 3DO.

Youtube some of the games if you wanted to see what they are like.

Time to get me that Road Rash game for it now.

Star Control 2 is almost worth buying a 3D0 for by itself... just be prepared to invest a lot of time into it!

    Road Rash is excellent.

I also have a soft spot for Burning Soldier, Starblade, and Strahl.

chris, I dont know if you like football or not but, the John Madden Football(94) on 3do is one of the best 32 bit football games ever made. A ton of awesome footage from NFL films(93 season), better looking individually sized and appropriately skin colored player sprites and nice gameplay. The best, most unique console exclusive 3do game in my opinion.

here is a list i made of the best 3do games on amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-3do-...hor_title_full
I don't play old stuff for nostalgia, I play old stuff because the games are better.

    Thanks for all the replies!

Football gaming for me is touch and go. My fave Madden game is prolly 95. I also liked one on the PS1, I think it came out the year before Madden debuted on PS1, it was big for being all 3D, can't think of the name of it though.

It looks like Star Control is a must, along with Gex, Road Rash, and Another World.

Plumbers Don't Wear Ties should be a good one to backup and laugh at.

I didn't realize D came out on the 3do. Its another must have for me, I've been wanting to try it out since the Saturn but I've never had a Saturn, and heard that the PS1 port wasn't quite as good as the Saturn version. Was the 3do the original release of D?

FIFA International Soccer is a superb game and worth picking up at any rate.

Even if you don't like Football, it still makes a superb experience in 2 player mode, matches nearly always end up being tense and exciting, unlike new FIFA games where it's easy to draw matches about 9-9
