I beat it today, it's really good stuff. The slow sloppy controls are fixed after you level up some to get some more moves and speed.

Also, lol at all the Megaman 2 references at the end.

Bad, because I hate this trend in videogames. They just don't know when to end. They just keep going and going, like a movie that has already had its big climax fight but feels the need to tack on other little fights after that.

True, the last-last boss of the game is a letdown after that Gideon/FF6 end boss monster. But the true KO on Gideon is funny (I won't mention what it is.)

It is sort of as Why-Disciple said.

This game is awesome if you have 3-4 friends to play it with period. The music is nice and the level of mayhem on screen with a full four players is great. Not only that but it incorporates a level system and stores similar to river city ransom.

In most other cases it is still an ok game but playing the game by yourself is a little tedious and no online multiplayer is a bummer. The enemies take a decently long time to kill which really draws out parts of the game. When you start out this is definitely the case as you dont have any moves.

Later in the game you get new moves which really improves on the quality of the experience. Unlike SoR and FF, when you start, your jump in attacks always knock down when they hit and you cant walk up and do grab combos. Luckily you get a parry and a grab but they are a little awkward at times.

There are a lot of things to pick up and beat people with (you can even beat enemies with other enemies) but each item doesnt feel or sound too different. And with the exclusion of enemy life bars, its hard to gauge how well each weapon actually does against enemies (with a few exceptions) and you will most likely just use them for the sake of using something other than your fists and feet.

Ive also experienced some glitching that requires you to restart the game from the beginning of the level which is REALLY annoying if you have friends playing as "guests" and not under a profile - I REPEAT - NEVER PLAY AS A GUEST IF YOU WANT TO SAVE YOUR CHARACTER PROGRESS! If you quit, all of your guest character information will be lost and you will end up playing the later stages at level 1 with no moves.

Other than that there are a lot of nice things in the game. Even though you cant do combos like normal beat-em-ups, you can do juggles (this is very effective if you have at least one other person to play with. You can power up and sort of go super sayin where you move faster, and do stronger attacks until you are hurt. The leveling system is a little quirky but not a bad edition and the game looks and sounds nice (with a slight exception of the hit sounds which are fairly plain).

I beat it. The true last boss dies in one hit and doesn't even fight back

Not sure I'll be able to get the INVULNERABLE trophy, though. That one requires you to make it through the entire stage up to the boss without being hit once.

I got the game on XBLA yesterday and played through the first world. It's pretty cool so far, and the little classic game references are great. The intro is ripped straight from Street Fighter Alpha 3, which was good for a couple of laughs. I'm going to save the game for later though, when I've got friends over we can play through the game in coop.

Level up your characters so you and your friends can pull off some moves.

All the hype around this game killed it for me before i even played it,
countless messages from people on my MSN list "OMG TEH SCOTT PILGRIM GAME IS AWESOME"

"OMG IN THE COMIC HE REFERENCES TEH OLD GAMES OMG"

"OMG ITS LIKE TEH RIVER CITY RANSOM"

    "OMG YOU GOTTA PLAY IT!!!"

And then there's the shitload of forum posts too, OMG HAVE YOU PLAYED IT YET???

its just.. I don't handle overhyping well, always ruins it for me.

Same with the Matrix back in the day, skipped on it because i got sick of it before i even saw it.

I played the demo last night and it is interesting... you're a bit too weak/slow in the beginning IMO
